First time I've put the ML through MOT tomorrow...fingers crossed
What's the going rate anyway?

I was not impressed that the complimentary MOTs have stopped at the dealer I use. When you're expecting walk out without getting your wallent from your pocket fifty big ones is a lot!!

Standard car fee now is £45 ish. I would not generally be tempted by a free test at a "Tyre monkey" type place, since I think the chances of a fault being found might be higher than elsewhere, perhaps?

Cost me £30 on the CL.

W203 is done free at MB.

Did it the other day from my trusted place, cost me £50 with a discount of a few pennies (the max price is £50.35 I'm led to believe! )

That said, I fully trust the garage I goto - and they'll do any minor adjustments free (including changing bulbs and wipers! :D)

MB Manchester used to be free but last time I went I was charged £50.35. They have a valid reason though: their in-house MOT guys have both left so they have to send the car elsewhere at the moment.

Paid £40 yesterday, two guys who have done all my MOTs for the past 22 years (2 or 3 cars a year).

They set up on their own after one of them resigned from a Ford dealership becuase the boss had a word about the fact he wasn't generating the required £50 average bill from the MOTs he did!

Well, sigh of relief. Just a new tyre needed (which they didn't supply)..it had a tear to the cord - which i forgot about! £49 for the test and no re-test fee. :bannana:

I know, I know, but it's the first time in my ownership that it's had a proper inspection off the ground. Just envisaged them walking in and saying - your axle is knackered or the chassis is mainly made of rust

You were driving about on a tyre with a tear right down to the cord and you were aware of this? I'm sure you never travelled at high speed with this tyre and the tear was in a safe location.

Have you got a pen and paper ready?

I will let CarrotChomper our resident specialist linguist fill in the rest  :) as he has demonstrated his expert knowledge of most four letter words used in the English language.

Glad to hear you imediately changed\dumped the defective tyre????
