Mothers's Day E-Class Coupe (a Bargain)

Mother's Day came early to our house this morning. My wife has always wanted an E-class coupe and today her wish came true. I've managed to find a lightly damaged 2010 model which has only done 9000 miles! - The cost (including delivery) was £11,000 ! - pretty amazing.

The Garage we purchased the car from says it will cost between £6-7,000 to repair - so this is a 2010 E-class coupe for £17,000 ! The only disappointment is that the garage I purchased it from said they could no longer do the repairs themselves - however, they've given us some names of garages in Birmingham who will do it.

My wife was a little bit disappointed she couldn't visit her friends in the car this morning, but she's coming round to seeing the big picture. (I may get her a little run-around car until the work is complete).

Question for the forum is do you think I should get a quote for repair from a MB main dealer too ? (that way, I could keep the car's warranty).

Thanks

Looks like a lot of work

How much would one cost same year spec not crashed

Brilliant thread. I'm, suprised you didn't buy a Mercedes engined 270cdi Ssanyong Rodius, which has more seating than an R class for a car that costs half as much.

You may want to have a look at previous threads started by the OP.

And the Ssangyong looks so great too......

I've seen bin lorries that are easier on the eye.

Who cares, 7 or 8 seats with a reliable Mercedes engine without the rust.

Its perfect for the man who has never heard of Durex or for a taxi driver.

Its the R class Voyager should buy if he has a large family or that his new career should be driving people to and from airports en mass. ;)

Lol here we go.

Who cares ? Anyone who objects to looking a **** driving round in an ugly, low-rent piece of poo.

The latest What Car review states that the car is "catastrophically short of safety kit". Hardly the car for a person looking for transport for a large family and at up to £21k (with dreadful residuals) it's not even cheap. And it manages one star for Quality and Reliability so it'll take more than a Mercedes engine to redeem it !!

Avoid.

Kill two birds with one stone. Get them to transform it into the car you've always dreamed of at the same time - it's the right colour and everything.

Mike

Ideal - just do the back and then both ends will look as wrecked as each other.

You are a genius !

lightly damaged must redefine my definition of that. I promised the boss i'd buy her a convertible when I proposed, true she has an open top tractor but after almost 24 years i've continued to fall short in the true convertible department. If I came home with one like that she'd show me and the vehicle the door.

Aren't AMG doing a factory version of the Rodius ?

Its entirely possible.

The 270cdi engine is still the only diesel engine that AMG officially worked on to make a bespoke AMG. They bored it to 3000cc and gave us the C30AMG (in the 203) and it made 231bhp and a massive amount of torque.

I am sure the Koreans could persuade Mercedes to re-do this, and it would be so easy to fix as all the mounting points for the engine would remain the same.

Voyager should personally commission this.

Good luck! Let's hope the run around has a good number of years in it.
