Still not sorted a motor, the E cab with air scarf and heated seats is in theory a good winter steed but I hunger for size (!). Well if I'm honest if the Legend wasn't in a iffy Glasgow dealers I would have had it but it is and I haven't but in my local emporium of more interesting stuff I have not only this
http://www.classiccarswirral.co.uk/cgi-bin/showcar.cgi?sequ=39
(Wrong colour, crap parrot iffy aerial, wrong leather) looks mint but also a CL600 not just any cl600 but round the Wirral is a chain of bakers (Hursts) and the hq is near my house with the CL outside mostly, today outside was a CL63 just like the one in my local dealer above offered to me last week. I called them "have you got the bakers cl600?" Yes they had it, needs an instrument cluster (!) but I'll check it out tomorrow it's done 55k only.
A CL is about as much use as my last CL but a mint 600 maybe too strong to resist - update tomorrow.

I love CLs, especially the current just about to replaced version.

I drove a 6.2 NA CL63 recently .. wonderful sound, but the CL is very big, makes the CLS feel medium sized

In theory I could lose the E cab and have both - two old Mercs what could go wrong.

I'm sure I bought our L322 from them (Classic Cars Wirral) and they were very fair to deal with (if a long way from home for us)!

I'd also love a CL at some point...

Ok they have a mint CLK55 older style on amgs a mint CLK55 newer shape a r129 on 15k the s class and the cl600 plus a lovely xjs - nice afternoon looking.

This s class is mint, really clean downside it went from 2010 to 2013 without a service and the last 2 were at a dhiatsu garage !!!! The keyless go doesn't but car is immaculate. They are checking to see if it has service paperwork but is that a huge deal? It did about 20k in that time.

Lexus LS 460 Davey? You raved about the last GS you had from Cheshire Oaks. Regards
looked on trader but none local to me of interest, that Legend is still there .......... (Probably for a reason)

I'd recommend the W220. Brilliant car with plenty of power. Crap fuel economy though.

Compared to other cars of this age, in this segment...it's one of the very best.

I've used a S500 on LPG and my current S 320cdi over many years and haven't found either bad at all.

Some interesting stuff, a local chap collects Mercs and bentleys, he likes older ones but not too old and he drives them all but not much as he has so many. This s class he had twice, he got it again in June and put it in mb Hoylake to do everything - this included new side glass all round (delamination) new door plates (4) scratched, all fluids, steering column (squeak) and new pads and discs then wheel refurb. Oh new prop shaft coupler (clunk). So it's near perfect cosmetically - I'm tempted.

After much thought Ive bought this
Handy for the kids, 2 years nissan warranty, loads of kit, 4wd, bargy esq, had side bars and stuff put on it - all in with new tyres £12k 2008 - happy with that the kids can wreck it and its not so boring to drive - just got to get to Bognor bloody Regis to collect it.

Do a thorough check on collection, make sure the electric seats function properly, by this I mean they move in every direction smoothly. The engine can sound a little gruff if it's the petrol version, but check oil level etc and keep an eye on it. Other check is for wheel bearings / hubs, common fault / failure.

Jules.

Excellent choice. I love these Muranos, especially the V6 petrol. Only fault I'm aware of is the front seat mountings can crack. Something worth looking at before collecting. Like all Nissans, suspension can be a bit weak but unless you're planning to seriously take it off road not much of an issue/ (Russian use Muranos tend to spend a lot of time at garages having new springs etc!)

Could be my driving. I get sub 15mpg from my S320 petroL

It's from a nissan dealer with 2 years nissan warranty, new service and mot - I'm happy if any things amiss it will be ok BUT after the terrible BMW experience it's handed over in the dry and light.

I will check the elec tailgate, electric spring up back seats etc but I expect them to work

After lots of failures on the early Murano CVT transmissions NISSAN extended their warranties in the states to reassure customers.
Nissan CVT Warranty Extension

Nissan has extended the Nissan New Vehicle Limited Warranty for the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) to 10 years/120,000 miles (whichever occurs first) for CVT transmission repairs, replacement, and related towing on all 2003-2010 model year Nissan vehicles equipped with the CVT. The remainder of the powertrain warranty coverage for components other than the CVT transmission remains unchanged. All other warranty terms, limitations and conditions otherwise apply.

Later versions of the box are reputed to be better but I don't think this extended warranty will apply in the UK. If you have bought a diesel engined car this doesn't apply as thye have a different conventional autobox.

Collected without drama, old trick of preparing one side well and putting it against the wall (pic 1) but presentation was quite good.
It's very comfy, it's not as thirsty as a 6.0 or a 5.5 so to me it's economical at 25mpg coming home, on the way home I didn't feel pressured to drive like a German ie I drove at my own pace not the perceived lane warrior pace of an uber barge and I felt better for it.
Although it's shorter than the 760 it feels bigger, no parking sensors seems odd but I have 2 cameras!
After 5 days things seem clearer and the Nissan has stuff Germans have just not as well engineered, ie the climate motors are bloody noisy when starting off, a rough grunt thrupp not a well honed hmmm from mb or BMW, switches are fisher price not lovely tactile things, build is good, as good as the e class, for 5 years it's worn well. It's very comfy.
Odd things, Bose amp in spare wheel actually in the wheel, heated rear seats, leather that doesn't do justice to the cow, no coin holder, no rubber trimmed cup holder or cubbys it's plastic and rattly, keyless entry and go works very well, led back lights are tiny.
I'm really enjoying it so far, combination of new type of car, good deal and entertaining package all contributing.
