Hi guys, I heard that at a recent MSL dyno day, there were a handful of cars (C63 and E63) M156 engine'd cars that were down on power and very unresponsive to tunes/mods....anybody able to shed more light on this please?

And sounding like impreza's lol

Nothing wrong with the cars on the day, it was dyno malfunctions. Fixed later in the day.

I was there getting my car remapped and de catted. No there was no low bhp figures on that day. Mine actually produced a lot more than everyone expected and I think all the other c63's was around 520/530 bhp.

However. Around that time there was a post on here from someone who had there c63 mapped and dyno'd somewhere else and it was very low on power so maybe that's the mix up.

I stand corrected but the dyno in the purpose built dyno room at MSL had recently been recalibrated / had the software updated, therefore some results for cars that had previously ran on that dyno were slightly lower. However, the gains seen from the cars that were remapped on the dyno day were still the same impressive figures (base numbers to remapped numbers).

Dyno figures were quite variable on that day due to 2 different dyno used.

The main purpose built one is a Dynojet and Acid set up another 2wd dyno at the front entrance, which was a dyno dynamics.

The Dyno dynamic needed calibration and had some issues with heat soak after a few runs. Once a extractor fan was set up near the dyno, it was ok again.
No low figures as such. Most C63 which were remap on that day showed expected gains of 50-60bhp. Some even more.

Mine was dynode to see if any issues with map. There were none but figures differ to when it was dyno'ed inside the mian dyno. Figures may be slightly low due to dyno overheated and my run was the last run just before the extractor fan was used.

Anyways, all cars dyno'ed were healthy and seems to be making good gains!

Thanks a lot guys. Certainly helps to clear that up then! :)

FWIW I tried to call MSL a few times but couldn't get through, hence why I asked here :)

Am I missing something with the exhausts comments?

Just another member who posted about a fancy exhaust that they had found and wanted on their motor.

Same member wasn't happy and got butthurt with the opinions of the exhaust from other members, which made the car in the demonstration sound just like an Impreza.

The OP of that thread refused and denied this and wanted 'proof' that it did sound like one, even though all they had to do was go out and listen to any Impreza ever made, ever

Yes, it was a "I want to hear comments on what people think - but only provide comments if you like your AMG sounding like an Impreza, otherwise I don't want to hear about it".

Always call Acid direct on his mob, he is one of a few garage owners I know who always picks up or returns calls...

Not too early though, he's not brilliant at mornings. :D

Incidentally, and going back to the original post, I found the dyno to be fine on the day, as did Lee. :bannana:

As tricky as it can be to get a hold of Acid sometimes, it's well worth persisting as he is a top chap and always goes the extra mile...

He is a busy bloke and good trade always are!
