Mudflaps w211 estate

Just bought a set of mudflaps of eBay and the rear flaps have a slightly different part number.

Is it a big difference between the two? The rear bumper of the pre and post facelift look similar? The serial number for the front are fine but the last two are different but only by two digits.

Pre-facelift, there were different part numbers (and different shaped parts) for Classic/Elegance and Avantgarde models. The reason being that the sills and rear bumper are a different profile. AMGs are different again, which is why you mostly see mudflaps stating "not for AMG versions".

Post-facelift, all sill and bumper profiles were the same as far as the mudflaps were concerned, hence only the single part number. Which, incidentally, is the same as the 'old' Avantgarde one.

IIRC, the Classic/Elegance part number ends in "17" whereas the Avantgarde/post-facelift ends in "18". What part number did you get?

Part numbers I have bought are as follows:

B66528214 & B66528216

I contacted MB Inchape who advised that the correct PN are:

Front B66528216
Rear B66528217

Now... according to the online Inchape site... the front (16) are for the 94 shape e class??! and 14 are also classic and elegance only?

17 seem to be correct as the rear bumpers on both elegance and avantgarde both appear to have the same profile?

If this is the case, can the front ones be modified to fit?

They quoted you the part numbers the wrong way round! I've just checked, and I got it wrong. But so did they!

According to the MB 211 accessory brochure (and the Inchcape parts website), B66528217 is for the front - i.e: "Front set, saloon and estate, for AVANTGARDE, except AMG models and models with AMG bodystyling. Also for CLASSIC, ELEGANCE and AVANTGARDE from 06/06".

B66528216 is for the rear - i.e: "Rear set, estate only, for CLASSIC, ELEGANCE and AVANTGARDE, except AMG models and models with AMG bodystyling".

For the record, B66528214 is: "Front set, saloon and estate, for CLASSIC, ELEGANCE, except AMG models and models with AMG bodystyling, up to 05/06".

So - you're correct about the profile of the rear bumper, you just got the part numbers the wrong way round. If yours is an Avantgarde version though, you should have bought B66528217 for the front. Sorry, but I don't know how much modification would be needed to get them to fit.
