My C43 AMG on going project

This C43 AMG is looking great well done for doing all of the work so far !

Justin I have to take my rear bumper off soon as I have a rear parking sensor gone, how easy is it to come off? Also on mine I can see what looks like polystyrene running the length of the bumper behind, you can see it in the gap at top between the car and the bumper and it is loose though the gap is very small I can move it slightly, its obviously meant to be fixed to the inside of the bumper panel but have you any idea how it is meant to be held there?

Bumper is only held on with 4x bolts, I did a HowTo on it.

I knew you did one for the front, did,nt. Realise there was one for the rear bumper as well, any ideas what the polystrene I can see is?

I did that mod on my old W202, but descided not to do it this time. It was 50/50 when i had the new wing painted as i could of had the holes blanked off at that point.
You could have bought wings with no holes in at all! :)

Great work btw, car looks fantastic!

Very easy Andy, if you look back at the rear panel in the boot. You will see four 13mm nuts, two each side. Also one in the middle of the rear panel. Behind the N/S/R wheel arch you will see a trim clip that needs to come off. Then the bumper will slide off, remember to disconnect the PTS multiplug :thumb:

The polystyrene strip is in three pieces and you can see them in my picture above between the bumpers on the grass.
They can be put on with spray glue or stickoflex to the inside of the bumper.

HOW TO REMOVE REAR BUMPER

The foam is basically a shock absorber, it shouldnt come out on the rear bumper at all, (it does on the front with ease). Id take it off and glue it back on.

Thank you :thumb:

Where did you see the wings with no holes ?

Most Euro region pre-facelift W202s dont have side repeaters, we had one as a 'hire' car in the summer in Spain. Sliver and no rust at all.

Not sure I could get the wings through customs as hand luggage though.

Yeah, did not think of that. Probably american spec aswell

Never mind, done the wings now. Not doing them again :thumb:

EuroMerc (nic) had a pair of wings with no side repeater holes, one was brand new and the other IIRC was a very good conditioned used one. I believe you can order them new from MB as there WAS two pt. No.s for the front wings as Karl said some euro spec countries never had them also no US spec 202 had side repeaters so they should still be manufactured by the factory, I have decided to keep my side repeaters even though I have 210 mirrors, as personnally like the look of them both working.

I wanted to get rid of the double flashing each side asap. I think it highlights the fact they arent standard in the 1st place.

Before I fitted my custom, ahem hole covers I bought a 'Classic' badge (EuroMerc) from a facelift W168 A-Class which does exactly this job. It wasnt big enough though :(

Just looking at your pics again, are you aware that there is meant to be a cover over the pump filter assembly? Though even when fitted its a bit wobbly, or have you left it off for the purpose of the pics.

Never thought of ordering wings from another country spec  if i had i would of probably done the W210 mirror conversion again. My last W202 i welded the holes up and smoothed them over.

I think MK2 (Facelift) Focus ones might be the right size, but I gave up on eBay after it felt like I was scrolling though Max Powers classified section.
