My C43 AMG on going project

I've tried taking pics before. They don't come out well.

See it at the GTG

Fair enough, i want to get mine finished before the GTG. Are you sunvisors covered in Alcantara aswell ?

Yes, but not the plastic bits. It looks the nuts BTW

Am tempted now :wallbash:

Will see if the trim guy would be able to do the sun visors aswell, I will talk to him this week.

Who did yours mate ?

Hey Justin, How/where did you get the door handles colour coded? They look very class and I would prefer that solution over the black ones fitted OE. If painted, do they stay good or start to flake after a couple of months?

Hi, they are the door handles that i bought new for my old W202 in silver from MB a few years back. I flatted them and painted them Azurite Blue :thumb:

Maybe try and paint the original handles if you can't find any colour coded one's. Maybe with some good quality plastic primer you may be ok :)

Yeah, I think the plastic primer will the the key element for the paint to remain intact. Thanks for the tip :thumb:

I think i would spray them trims if i descide to go ahead with it. What about the sunvisors aswell ? Can you post up on here some pics of your headlining please mate, would help me make my mind up :thumb:

You will have to demonstrate the sunroof blind thing to me at your GTG :D

Here are some pics of my ML with headlining, pillars and visors done by D:Class, following Peter (C43AMG) recommendations. They did a cracking job. My plastic bits were colour coded by a local shop, using plastic paint and matt lacquer. They came out great as well.

ML - a set on Flickr

On a side note, if you want you can DIY the alcantara in your car. Just buy a material from Dunelm Mills @ £11/sq m, get an Evo Stick glue and some pegs and off you go. I friend of mine did his car himself and it turned out looking no different to mine.

Thanks Peter i will give them a call :thumb:

They also did the "A" "B" and "C" Pillars on Olly's car. They also did my CL an amazing job + the rear parcel shelf in Alcantara and some extra leather work which was perfect.

Cheers mate :thumb:

If the quote i get is too expensive, i may go down that route.

Ok, rather than sitting indoors eating Easter Eggs all weekend i started my interior modifications ;)

First cleaned up the new headlining that i removed from a C43 that was breaked for spares

Then it was time to remove my headlining as i wanted to do away with a roof flip down monitor that had been fitted before i owned the car.

P1040665.jpg

Next i removed the sun visors, overhead control panel, A,B and C pillar trims, and rear head rests

P1040669.jpg

Then the rear shelf, ready for a Rear Blind retrofit

P1040672.jpg

Then all the seats and the centre console and the headlining removed

P1040683.jpg

Next i removed all of the carpets, kick trim panels to gain access to the wiring looms

P1040679.jpg

Here are the Electric rear blind and folding mirror wiring looms

P1040684.jpg

Then time to route the looms from the switch panel to the earth points under front seats, to the rear shelf and front fusebox. Then out to the bottom of the A pillars

P1040686.jpg

P1040693.jpg

P1040692.jpg

P1040688.jpg

Connected the two feed wires to the fusebox

P1040695.jpg

Next i stripped down two complete door wiring looms, as i only needed the folding mirror loom

P1040696.jpg

Next connected the folding mirror loom to the correct seperation point at the A pillars, and ran the new loom through the door upto the mirror

P1040701.jpg

P1040702.jpg

P1040704.jpg

Next fitted the folding mirrors with freshly painted covers, then tested the operation :D

Then fitted the rear blind and connected it up and tested that also :D

Anything more simple to do on a Sunday  ? The folding mirrors is an upgrade I would like to do, but it seems a b***er to do.

I remember doing both these mods too brings back memorys ! Good progress so far though :thumb:
