Im in the V8 Club! Picked this Beast up yesterday, 2005 with 88k on the clock.:bannana::bannana::bannana:

Overall needs some TLC, a couple of scratches here, some stone chips there. inside needed a major clean. I have only had time for the basic wash/hoover but already its looking a better motor.

The Power, OMFG...! its obscene.:eek::eek::eek:

-Obsidian Black
-Black Leather/Alcantara
-18" AMG Style IV Alloys
-Harman Kardon Surround system with iPod controls
-COMAND

Managed 26.4 Mpg on a long drive today, which included a fair number of pedal down/world going in reverse moments :thumb::thumb::thumb: 30 is my goal.

Eagled eyed members might notice the lack of rear lip spoiler, it would appear its had a new bootlid perhaps in its past? stolen? minor crash? as a result the remote boot release opens it at about 50mph :D

Planned Mods: (in no order)
-Facelift 'arrow' style wingmirrors
-OEM Illuminated Sills
-Facelift front Grill
-OEM Rear lip Spoiler
-Rear diffuser - if I can find one that doesnt look like it just glued on/out of place

One thing I will add, the interior quality compared to the W209 (non AMG spec W209) are worlds apart, CLS has Church door levels of solidness. you feel so cocooned in the CLS that you dont realise how fast you are actually going.

Thanks to Sean aka C240Sport97 for advice on CLS55's

Congrats, beast of a car!

The 4 exhausts are well deserved this time!

Health to enjoy.

My GF was in the car behind me on the trip back from the sellers (150 Miles) - both of us in the slow lane. She said around 15-20 cars slowed down to look at me as they passed by :D

This evening, I was getting tail gated by some young yobbo in his Astra VXR, (fast enough car in its own right) until we got to some lights. As soon as they went Green I floored it, until he was a small speck in my RVM. a couple of miles later he caught up again as we were next to each other at another set of lights, I glanced over only to get a big thumps up from him. Thats a 1st! :D :D :D

You'll get used to the ricers and euro racer trying it on. They still need teaching a lesson though

Two reasons why you have made a superb choice

1 You have purchased a amg v8.

2 It's petrol no more horrid DIEsel for you.

Great choice! My all time fav car! I'm green!!! :D

Very nice motor, congrats. Little niggles are part of the fun of making the car "your own".

Re boy racers. I've recently debadged my CL. Interestingly enough, in 4 months of ownership and with 55 AMG badges still intact nobody tried me on. As soon as I removed them, A4s, 3-series and surprisingly C-Classes drive now extremely close with almost no room to brake. I honestly expected the opposite from debadging.

Yep, same as moving into a new house, it doesn't feel like its yours until you have decorated it :)

Re: debadging, I'm guessing to the untrained eye AMG mercs look no different then any other merc...?

Any other Sport or AMG styled Merc

The only things that separate us from them is under the bonnet and in the drivetrain

How achievable do you think 30 MPG would be KH....??

Surely the question should be why try? Its a 5.5ltrs AMG ... one should be driving it and enjoying it.

Now, striving for 6mpg is another thing entirely ;)

someone on mbclub once said that once you got an AMG, you never got any other Merc .. it's so true.

congratulations !

of your list of mods, I would keep the original wing mirrors, so much more stylish than the facelift ones.

and well done for not changing 18" alloys .. it is a very exclusive CLS55 club that you and I are in!

I reckon the only way to get 30mpg is to reset trip and cruise around 60mph for a bit .. not that I have ever bothered in 4 years :)

I was just wondering how achievable it was if you were that way inclined, having the power is great but sometimes it is also nice just to take it easy and drive normally. Under those conditions, and if you hovered around the 60 mph mark, is it realistic to expect 30 mpg, or is it a bit of a mission to achieve....?

Gentle drive on motorway to Lake District, from Cotswolds managed 27mpg

Congratulations on your new car! Welcome to the black club! Don't say you weren't warned! :)

It looks great Karl - very well done.

Tell me you're not going to debadge it .

Also, CLS's are big cars and will carry 19" wheels with ease, helping the stance (IMO of course) :thumb:.
