Well they finally arrived!! :bannana:
Purchased from USA, shipped via UPS, my new rims should have take 2 days to arrive....
But after 2 weeks, 2 rims finally arrived. So after several complaints to UPS it was finally decided the other 2 had been lost! After a letter to the head of UPS's complaint department one wheel was located in Germany and the other in East Midlands. A week later the wheel from Germany arrived but it took a further 3 days for the rim located in the Midlands to arrive.
As if that wasn't enough the wheel that got lost in germany turned up like this!
Problem being was that the outer rim was no longer round so the seal between the tyre and rim was letting air out. No refurb company was willing to touch it as they said it was impossible to straigthen! So spoke to Carlsson regarding a new wheel.... "It is now a discontinued model.... but we do have one available.... we can do it for you at a good price..... £863.55 + VAT.... Sir... Hello.....Hello.....you still there???..." At that point i pretended to lose reception on my phone!
SO after several hours of head scratching i popped down to my local tyre shop to see if he could advise me on what to do. He said to leave the wheel with him. After 2 hours he called me back and to my amazement he showed me:
Well somehow he straightened the wheel, no kinks at all. Not noticable anymore!! The man charged me £25 but thats including putting the tire on and balancing it and fitting a chrome valve! Now thats a result!!
Well they are on my car now:
So what do you guy's reckon? I had a set of AMG's on the car originally but they were becoming too common as majority of SL's have them on. Thought i'd be different and go for something unusual. They are 8.5J at the front and 10J wide at the back. I am running 255/40/18 Yokohoma tires on the front and 285/35/18 tires on the back.
