Well . . . After a couple of weeks deliberating, I decided to treat myself to a 2002 W208 CLK320 Avantgarde in Metalic Quartz with full Orion Grey leather and black Birds Eye Maple interior. It's a family friends car, with a full MB service history and only 22,000 on the clock, in totally pristine condition with not a mark anywhere on it !

Thanks to all of you who gave me advice before I bought the car, from what you all said the car had the best of everything except command, and seemings as I prefer using a Tom Tom that wasn't an issue.

Anyway, here's a pic and a list of all the options it came with. . . And if anyone has any suggestions of nice mods for this model I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction! At the moment I'm considering a change of wheels, so what would you all suggest ? ? ?

very nice, welcome to the club, I like the alloys by the way

Cheers Matt, yours looks a nice CLK too. Have you changed anything, I can't quite make out what wheels you've got on there. I like mine but was thinking about going from 16's to either 17's or 18's........Any thoughts ?

Very nice car looks GRRRRREAT!:bannana:

I have option code 648 light hole alloy, they are only 16's, personally I like them, and they ride well, although others here will recommend a change to a nice set of AMG's for example:)

Only MOD so far is a Parrot CK3100, but I will fit COMAND soon too

You can see better pictures here http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=41543

Please, please don't show me that picture. Missed out on a lovely CLK that colour at auction because I couldn't tell the difference between 10 and 11 am...

And bought a Honda.

Muppet!

Cheers guys, appreciating all the comments !

Carrot, sorry about the pic but it had to be done. I love the colour, was a little fed up of owning black and silver cars and thought this was something a little different that you dont see so much of.

As I said before, any ideas for worth while mods let me know !

Thats a lovely looking car. Well done.

I would highly recomend a comand and a parrot blue tooth kit.
I know you said you like the Tom Tom but a comand looks better and they dont cost all that much.

I have a CLK too and am on the lookout for an auto dimming rear view mirror, so thats another mod if you havent got one.

Regards,

Alex.

Thanks Speedy, I still think the first mod im going to go for will be a change of wheels though. Just need to decide what style and size to go for now........

like the colour what is it ...and what colours the inside ...

Hi all,
Ive just joined the Quartz CLK club too, got it a week ago as yesterday. Its not quite as nice as 14Ben`s, its only the 200 Elegance auto but it took quite a while to find on my limited budget but Im very pleased with it so far. The heater motor wasnt working when I bought it but £130 & half hour of my time saw a new motor fitted.
Im looking for some better wheels too, dunno what style or size to go for yet. My other toy is a 1988 Porsche 944 that I have been doing up for a couple of years. I fitted 17" wheels to this with 245 rear tyres but this does make it tramline a bit at speed so I want to avoid that if possible.

Couple of questions for you.
How do i find the list of options fitted to my car?
Has anyone bought a new electronic key recently & if so which dealer is the cheapest??

Stu

14Ben congratulations on your purchase. Looks great. I had some 17" 209 CLK alloys fitted to my E-Class and I think they look good. Maybe a consideration for your 208. Check my gallery for pics.

Congratulations Stu and welcome to the forum. I bought a new replacement key recently and it cost just over £150 including the blade. I believe the prices will be the same in all dealers in the UK. The good thing is that you will receive the new style chrome key which looks much nicer :)

A Porsche fan too eh? - Nice!

Looks like i`ll just have to bite the bullet & get one then as soon as my log book arrives. Thought some dealers may be cheaper than others.

I like the wheels on your E class!!

Hi and welcome - a lovely looking car ...I am sure you will enjoy..

14Ben - Nice car. As others have suggested a nice set of AMG Alloys would go down a treat but don't go for replicas..!

Slippy - Vin checker is here - http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=eng

Both very nice cars. I would also go along with comand and Parrot (but only cos I did it). It does really finish the interior off nicely and factory looks best IMO.

Heres mine as well..

I hope you both enjoy them as much as I do mine.

Hi Ash,
Thanks for that.
Love the wheels on yours, what size are they please & what tyre width / profile?

Daft question time.....sorry, errr whats command?? I take it thats a factory option head unit?? What should I expect to pay for one & would it be a direct fit? Mine has an aftermarket Blaupunkt head unit that sounds a bit poo, very poor sound from the rear parcel shelf speakers!
