My old car for sales

Sure was, approx £42,500. It will make a nice car for someone...

So, 56% value retained, if sold for the asking price. Not bad for above average mileage and a couple of 'not cheap' options.

Er the value retained will be what was given in part exchange, not what its going to sell for......sounds like Westminster accounting :D

What's to stop the OP from advertising the car himself for that figure?

Without knowing what the part-ex value is, the two known figures are still worthwhile benchmarks, original retail price and used retail price.

Not at all, the OP could advertise it at that price but it would only be a comparison if it actually sold for the price, as for the dealer price, somehow I doubt very much the dealer paid that asking price for the vehicle (if they did they will not be in business very much longer). I would be surprised if there is not at least a clear 2 or 3K profit in there........just pop along to the auctions and see the prices for Mercedes finance sales, that type of Merc was fetching between 18-20K in January.......I know, I was trawling around the auctions for mine then.
