I have been on here for some time and this place is a wealth of good information and advise.
I have a 2003 SL55 which I bought after looking at a few so as to find the right car as it's going to be the subject of a major transformation. The car will have a wide body conversion, with bespoke split rims as I do not want to use spacers like many conversions do, the interior will also be totally stripped out, redesigned and made to look more bespoke. A new audio project will also be undertaken.
So, as fellow MB enthusiasts I thought I would share this project with you and welcome your advise and comments.
I must say that this has been in the planning stage for some time now and the aim is to end up with a sporty but classy looking car as no expense is being spared and the end result needs to reflect this. So let's see how it goes. :-)

Some pics of a few jobs before things start getting series.
Engine bay detailing started, new discs, pads and caliper overhaul.

What wheels are looking to head down? As this to me is often the major down fall of these projects.

I'd recommend either B star wheels or rotiform custom wheels. Both awesome wheels and they will build them to your spec and design.

I'm having a set of Image wheels specially made for this project.
They will be 10x20 front and 12x20 rears.
All measurements have been calculated, so bespoke offsets to get them to fit without spacers and still fill the arches properly.
I like the deep dish effect and these will have a ceramic coated polished outer rim, billet centres and centre lock effect.

+1 keep us updated ...we need projects like this to keep the juices flowing ...:thumb:

I'm also in Doncaster, are you doing the work yourself?

Looking forward to this, im thinking about doing the SL63 non wide body conversion myself. What kit have you gone for, Prior Design?

Hi,
To answer your questions:

SPX. Doing some of the work myself and some by more able professionals.

RAJ55 / m2287. The body panels are not by Prior Design or the other company on the link. It's an Xcusive Customz kit which is being modified in various areas. Aesthetically, strength and sharpness. I have had various meetings with the bodyshop who is doing this with regards to the detail of everything that is required and it's going to be Black, so needs to be done perfectly otherwise every little fault will show.

I have seen a few conversions and kits which are not the standard that I'm looking to achieve. So we shall see how I get on.

Thanks

I'm not seeing all the pics...is it just me?

I can't see them either - except the post at 2:44PM.

Be careful with the kits. I have seen some truly awful fitments.
