My SL55 project / conversion.

More work continues. Modifications to front and rear bumpers. The car has now had two coats of polyester and has been blocked to continue to define the lines and detail of the bodywork.

I know you have measured and has custom wheels made but I would highly recommend getting those wheels on prior to finishing the wheel arch bodywork. It is very tricky to get the look correct without the wheels.
Once the paint is done it will be very costly and frustrating if the wheels don't come out how you expected.

I understand what you mean but not a lot we can do at this stage as the wheels are being custom made to our measurements. These will not be ready until April but we aim to have the bodywork done by March. Fingers crossed on that and let's hope everything works well. I can adjust the ride height as I have fitted adjustable links. We have also modified the washer bottle and some pipe work in the front arches based on previous experience by these guys. They have done this conversion a few times so they know what to look for and do. The difference on this, according to them, is the level of detail and finish that I wanted.
If it goes the other way, we will have to find a solution and work on it. Not ideal but it will have to be done. We now need to work on getting the front right as there is a lot of work to get this right with all the gaps around the lights, grille, arches, bonnet, etc..
Also doing a few extra mods to the lights, splitter, fog lights with DRL, so lots to do.

More progress. The car has now been blocked again and another coat of polyester sprayed. You can see the sharpness of the lines and gaps are getting there. This will be blocked again and should be ready for the first coat of primer.

The colour process starts. First coat on some panels.

Looking great esp the time taken to get the bodyline spot on

Thanks Guys. A lot of the work is in the prep work so the finish look good.
Hopefully should be painted by the end of the week.

Stunning Work......... Keep the updates coming.

Truely does look amazing!

Can't wait to see when it's finished. Nice to see so much effort put into the preparation.

Looking great and black just about the toughest color to do well

The colour is Panther Black. It's a pearlescent with a rather coarse metallic to it.
We have played about with the paint to get as much of a subtle flip effect to a dark purple and looks stunning. That said, any black does show up any imperfections so the bodywork needs to be spot on. As said before, it's all in the prep work and with this project we definitely have set ourselves some high standards to achieve. The bodywork is only part of the overall project. Once this is finished, it's off to the trimmers to have the interior totally stripped down and re trim and re design the interior. Even the dashboard is coming out.
I hope it will all be worth it in the end but happy so far. :-)
Thanks for supporting this build guys. Always appreciate your posts.
