Either a Porsche air cooled engine (916 or 911) or I have seen scooby flat 6 engines put in old beetles and type 2's. The VW transaxle box is very tough.
Love the SL60, every Merc I've had has been Azurite blue, the way the colour changes with the light is fab, sometimes looks purple, blue, black.... but it's a bugger for showing swirls.

MB didnt really do anything like a camper... all the conversions ive seen dont look right IMO..

There have been some lovely old MB campers from the '60's on ebay lately, dont even need one but they look so cool. Cant remember the designations now, but they look almost like bigger MB versions of the VW campers.
