Last night. F******* w****** broke into my house and stole my car keys before stealing my beautiful car.
Some good news - wife and kids are away staying at the in-laws. The thieves did no damage to the house and left my wallet, house keys, lap top and Blackberry even though they were right next to my car keys. They did steal £70 of cash.
The keys were not left by the front door - they were in the dining room.
I am totally distraught. Had cleaned the car last night and filled it up with £55 of Optimax. Went to bed at midnight and when I opened the front door at 7am this morning it was gone.

Its only a car, and I am counting my blessings that all the really bad things that could have happened didn't, but I am totally totally gutted.
Hundreds of pounds of Blaupunkt sat nav also gone which is only part-covered by my insurance policy.
God knows what I'll get offered by the insurance company in settlement....will be trawling the classifieds for ideas on prices.......

Eyes peeled please for silver/black SL60 P684 KMS stolen in North West London.

Nick, i'm so, so, sorry,

It's more than likely in a crate off to Nigeria or somewhere, but i'll keep my eyes peeled !! If they've robbed nothing else, its probably stolen to order .

Hope to God you get it back with no damage !!

Nick, so very sorry to hear that. Scum

Any idea what time they broke in? Can you say how they got in? They obviously were quiet.

God, I hate scum like this ...

This is awful to hear and I hope this gets resolved properly for you.

Bad news. Very bad news. Sorry to hear it

That's a really sh*tty thing to happen.

I can't say anything useful, except that you have my sympathy.

I will keep an eye out for it.

this is so scarey. I really feel for you - as you say at least your family weren't there. I am glad it is only the car and some money they took. Chances are they would not have gone any further had they not got what they wanted - they were clealy only after the car - but you and your family are safe. I take it you're going to get your house locks changed too!

Hope you get it sorted frm the insurance side of things soon.

Thanks all. The shock is gradually wearing off after calls to car and home insurers. I really don't expect to see it again and just have to resign myself to that fact.
I am most worried about the settlement offer I might get from the insurers. I paid £26K for the car and estimated its value at £22.5 when I renewed my policy a month ago.
I've just been checking auto trader and there are similar cars for £35K, £28K, £27K and £23K respectively. Does this mean I should get £22.5K from my insurers?
Even if I do I'll not find as good a car as mine for that money.........
I'm just so gutted. For once I thought I'd bought a car that wasn't losing (much) money, was very reliable and I had no intention of selling it.
And now, it is gone and will probably end up costing me a fortune (£600 excess, cost of sat nav etc etc etc).
Just so miserable.
What on earth do I get to replace it???????

yup, thanks for that.
Can you nick me one?

Sorry to hear that. I always hide my keys and have a Tracker in mine for this reason. If you don't want another MB how about a Jaguar XKR?

damm , sorry to hear that dude :(

obviously stolen to order , its hardly something you could shift down the pub for £200.

our cars may or may not have tracker for this reason ;)

Not sure I want to compound my misfortune by buying a Jag!!
But seriously, I will be putting a Tracker on my next car. £500ish cost now seems cheap.....
Might go CLK430 Cab as replacement (if it comes to it). Any thoughts? What is the boot space like in these cars ?

Gutted, same thing happend to my mates parents New shape SL350, they had been watching the house for a few days...

No doubt same with you.

Hopefully you will get it back

With DC MB build quality and dealer attitude I'd say the Jag was a better option!

The CLK I found a bit 'plasticy' compared to the R129 - boot is bigger and rear seats useful compared to the SL. CLK 55 AMG?

Shame to see such a lovely car go...

I'm curently lookin for a later final edition 129 SL now as well... Hope u get a good settlement as i personally would NOT want the car back...

I'm surprised your insurance company didn't make you have one.
Mine did, or no insurance.

I know I shouldn't want it back, but I also know that I'll regret losing that car for ever, or until I can afford an R230, which is a long way down the track.
