My SL60 AMG has been nicked

Im very sorry to hear this mate :(

Dont accept the first or second insurance offer!!! Hold out for the highest price you have seen another one for sale for!! After all, its a fairly rare car and to find one in the condition yours was in would be imposible!!(thats what you want to tell them!!)

Good luck mate and i hope it all gets sorted soon.

Stu

Sorry to hear about your SL60 being stolen Nick,

I will keep a eye out for you up here as well.

All i can say is that the Arab's have the answer to thieving B@st@rds, thats what should happen to them when they get caught,NO questions asked, they would not do it again.

Mentioned this situation to my mum today and even though she does not visit this forum or know you Nick she was shocked. If I do see anything, especially something as special as that, I wikl naturally try and note the number, but not much chance in this poor part of the world I'm afraid :o .

Best of luck.

Dave - I know you're trying to be helpful, but I think Nick already knows the number - it's P684 KMS

thanks for all the good wishes. I'm still miserable. May have to buy another one as the only cure.........will have to wait and see what I get in settlement of the insurance claim.
Am currently driving my father-in-law's XJS conv. Scarily slow!!

The last thing I would want to do would be source the car theves another one to steal :( have you moved house yet?

This one looks nice. To me this is the perfect car (Black SL60 with black leather).
£26k though!

I know Gordon :). I think one misinterpreted my sentence there.

Regards.

I know you don't know me but sorry to hear about the car,

I had a super bike knicked 3 weeks after i spent 18 months saving for it.

The police said it was stolen to order and would never been seen again, here's your crime number for your insurance claim.

The Insurance company offered cr*p so i spent two weeks going through the FREE ADS and sent them copies and the uped their offer by £ 1500 by return post.

Hope it works out well.

PS stick to a Merc

All the Best

Been trawling autotrader etc and seen all those referred to above. Black/black is nice. Depends on payout.
Moving next week so won't be replacing before then anyway.
Absolutely no news on the car.
The only thing the police said was that if they do find it they would charge me for recovering and impounding it!!!!! Unbelievable........though the insurance company do cover the cost.
I am due to have a "telephone interview" with the claim handlers tomorrow. I assume this is for them to determine whether there is any way they can squirm out of paying out........anyone done one of these calls and can give some advice?

goodluck :)

No advise (for once :D ) but watch out about questions that involve the quality of the door locks/ the entry of the intruders...

Had a claims investigator come round to our house when our brand spanking new MB was stolen for a written statement and recorded interview.

They will ask u the same questions 2/3 times in a cycle and catch u out if u do not give consistent information on all occasions... even the smallest detail.

Also, make sure u thoroughly ready any written statement prior to signing it as the long hand written statement by our investiagor "twisted" things and I did not sign until it ws amended to the actual facts.

It sounds as though you need to have a solicitor present,or a dictaphone handy just incase you have to go over things time and time again.

I wouldn't answer the question more than once I would just refer them to their notes ...

wasn't exactly an interrogation. Just a muppet reading questions off a script.

Have you thought about an M113 R129 and adding a supercharger and uprated brakes etc? Would be quicker than the SL60 - though not sure about insurance and the resale value.

If you DO get another SL600/60 AMG, how about popping the badges off it to avoid any more undesirables taking a fancy to it? :)
