My wife's new SLK

Hi,
We are new to this fabulous site - my wife's new car is an SLK 320 and I am trying to establish which model/chassis ie 170 or R171 it is. I have read threads on the site relating to a W170, a 170, an R170 and a R171?
I am therefore hoping that someone may be able to help - the one that we have is registered Dec 53, so therefore on a 53 reg. I suppose what I would like to know is first of all to establish the model and then the differences between them?

(In case you're wondering, I want to buy a set of mudflaps and the ones I see on ebay etc all relate to the different 170 no's) I know I could go to a main dealer and quote the reg but don't want to say "how much??!!"

It will be a 170, the 171 comes in 200, 280, 350 and amg forms.

Call your dealer and check the price, iirc flaps don't cost that much, but generally be careful with fleabay as there are often MB parts on there that actually cost more than from the dealer. Honest
