Hi lads,
Vito developed a noise that driving me up the wall.
Sounds like squealing brakes.
Does not happen under load but does appear when braking etc
So have stripped all brakes fitted new backing plate one was like swiss cheese.
Everything greased up sliding pins , metal clips, metal plate on pads brakes are no a lot better looking.
So this did not solve the problem.
When out today with my son we could not pin point where it coming from it quite loud.
So at an big carpark with plenty of room he stood away in front of me, taking a run up hit brakes noise in cab as usual but
he could not hear absolutely anything from outside any help appreciated?

Strange one, good luck! We had propshaft wear on ours (very common) but that was a rhythmic squeaking under power ... clearly noticeable when driving slowly in a car park etc. with a window down. It stopped on the over-run or when braking.

Thank for replys
to date new front disks and pads, eveything lubed up, noise still there.
Appears when braking but everything is fine brake wise. I know the propshaft is very suspect as grumbling from it under load,
I was thinking as noise is apperent under braking even when using brakes in neutral. I think as brakes are loading up the prop its causing the squealing.
Only thing left is new disks and pads for rear and new prop I am heading towards new prop as opposed to disks and pads. Or sell it as spare or repair.-MOT till march.
It great condition underneath I was really supprised had to free foot brake mech this stoppet the alarm going off as pedal dropped on to switch.
Any advice much appreciated

I am heading towards new prop as opposed to disks and pads.

FWIW ... we were quoted £2,460 plus VAT for the propshaft from MB, or they could do a reconditioned one for £1,400 plus VAT. Erm, no thanks!

We went for a GSF one instead at £730 all-in (fitted by a local garage, including VAT). We were warned that we might notice some vibration compared to an MB one but it's been perfect so far (nearly 4 months) - and most of our mileage is at motorway speeds.

Hi
to be Honest at end of tether with it, new complete propshaft to fit van £189 approx. As I am disabled ,ok I can work lying on my back or just sitting on ground so can work on it.

No chance working under bonnet only get 5 mins at a time then laid up for the day.

Having a break for a few days to clear head and then decide sell, scrap or keep. Have all all the tools dont have inlcination at moment.

Update and another problemf
new propshaft £209 ebay fitted by garage as ill (£140) on collecting van no noise prop was Goosed👍
But as driveing home 1-2 miles engine management light came on the off then repeated a few times then stayed on.
enging is bit rougher on idle not a lot not sure if loss of power.
put generic reader on it not codes
put Thinkdiad again on codes but said injector no1 nor behaving properly also same for ecm and another cant remember it

Spoke to garage started great bring it down to another person saying £45 to diagnose.

As propshaft and exhaust cuddle up to each other I was thinking may be the oxygen sensor was disturbed or damaged during installation.
Once I am well enough will get a look but
  1. Now where can I find where to look for it on the net I know when I am under I will find it but a photo or something would help me ftom killing my self underneath by wiggiling around.
2, Also could the sensor cause these symptoms ars dont want the nightmare of injector replacement carry on!

If its injector peoblem will sell it, scrap it or just run with it
thanks in advance

PS excuse spelling laid up in bed also what was happening with prop was as pulling away rumbing in cab , when breaking squeaking in cab so when the froces acting on prop one way rumbing and when in opposite direction squealing this hpoefully helps someone else.

I very much doubt it will be anything to do with the prop and fitment.

I was just wishfull thinking probably. Walked away from it at moment till feeling better. Might get rid its moted till march.

You don't know what the issue is w/o diagnostics.
Surely that's the next logical step, might be a simple resolution.

Just to add,
I've found the 639's to be attention hungry.

Have put 2 Diagnostics on it show no codes awaiting personality key for my snap on machine and will try it. Unfortunately garages if cant find a code then its take off and replace end up costing fortune and then no possible rectification of problem.
I am bit disappointed nobody here has said location or shown of sensor for me to check to save me time (see earlier posting)
thank for your reply

A bit of an update, not been under van yet but put 1. Snap-on modis on the van no error codes but live data O2 sensors voltage was 0.000v if this is correct they are faulty if it has 2 . Another scanner thinkdiag allows you to switch of injectors etc tried to switch of 1 no injector as this scanner had said it was not working properly it came back saying injector 1 is switched off.
So either o2 sensors gubbed or injector is gubbed or it wiring.
I dont know if O2 problem could stop an injector would not have expected that so next move is to get under and have a look and test O2 sensors, if it the injector think I will get rid I can lean over engine compartment.
cheers

Don't think you said which engine, but try 210 on this.

It's a bitch to shift, so be sure to use the correct fitting tool or you'll round it.

o2 sensor should read a very low voltage, not zero. It would vary slightly while driving.
But the engine needs to be up to temp for the ECU to bring it online.

Hi
