The DVD if it's 2005 version uses safedisk 2 and you will not be able to copy it in the old way???? pain if you want to back up your original disks... good for the manufacturers/developers

what programs have you tried? to use

Or you can get a "backup" copy on Ebay and save yoursdelf the hassle!

This has got me wndering: If you have a genuine disk (and the receipt or a new car purchase invoice) surely MB would treat it like any other faulty part within the manufacturing warranty and replace it if it was faulty?

Disk is fine as ive not long bought it.
I'de like a copy for backup purposes.

Any ideas as to what programms to use to copy it ??

I appreciate you want to back it up - but why bother?

I have never had a manufactured DVD fail. Especially one that never leaves its drive bay. They are only at risk when they are being handled.

MB is sure to replace it if it fails, for them it must just be another part.

If you can get to someone with a unix box, you may be able to copy it using dd

iirc, it will be something along the lines of

dd if=/dev/<source cd> of=/dev/<destination cd> bs=512

I've copied some fairly uncopyable stuff using that before......

I've managed to copy the 2005 Audi DVD with Alcohol 210%, but the latest disks 2005_1 and 2005_2 were uncopyable with Alcohol.

So I got a MAC mini and installed Tiger & Toast.

I can now copy disks perfectly to an external FireWire 400 Pioneer 109 drive

These are dual layer +R disks.
