Hi all.

Does anyone know if map updates are included during the waranty period for COMAND?

Sorry if this has been asked but the search returned an error.

I think new cars with NTG4.5 have free map updates for the first 3 years and the car contract will state that

I don't see how a warranty can include map updates.

But what do I know.

Did you purchase the car from new in which case check the contract. It should say something like Comand with free three year updates

No, i bought it from MB retail used cars.

I that matter?

I only ask as you would have the original purchase order. Check with the dealer as they can take hours to do and can cost a bit!

Cheers for the advise.

I guess I could always ask my dealer and see what they say.

It does seem to be way out of date though.

Normally, new cars have a 3-year nav update plan included in the price. It's not a guarantee, just part of the package.

I believe they do now but in 2011 it wasn't a universal offer

There should be a little booklet in with the car's papers, if you have the 3-year thingy.

Maps can be downloaded from certain places if you can't get them free from the dealer

My dealer told me that the map updates (and traffic subscriptions where appropriate) are done as part of the MB services throughout the warranty period. It costs them nothing to do this (just plug it in and leave it whilst doing the other work) so I would have thought easily negotiated as part of all service, particularly if you've been using the dealer for a few years.

True now for the 3 year warranty but the original poster has a 2011 car, which, i believe, is the year they brought this in. I'm guessing after this period we will have to pay as the last update I had done on a 2011 w207 coupe took 7 hours in which time the car takes up the STAR computer, power to keep the update going and the odd change of discs (yes it still had to be done with discs!) and I can't see that being part of the service - but if they do do it after the warranty period then ill be a very happy bunny!

Think that's only for pre hard disk versions.

I believe that is so, more so with the pin coded Comand that needs to be plugged in to STAR to check its a legitimate unit!
