Afternoon all! I've been talking to a member who has an exhaust for sale who lives in Halifax, Yorks... It'd be cosy prohibitive for me to collect it, and I don't at all trust Parcel and courier companies to deliver the item to be in one piece.

I'm going to Benz on the Green, for a price is anyone able collect this enough route for me and bring it to Benz on the Green? Or even divert to mine in which case I'll gladly provide said price as well as a cuppa and dinner?

I've though of options and this is the only one which I know the exhaust will reach me in one piece!

Cheers,

Harry

(PS. Thank you to all who helped with my Xenon retrofit, absolutely amazing)

Edit - Also I can't post project thread in the project section... Anyone able to shed light on this? Thank you!

Harry , sorry I can’t help as I’m not going , but it might help if you mention whereabouts you are .

Incidentally, I just bought a genuine MB rear section for my 190E from a seller in Germany, and it arrived within a week , in perfect condition, by DHL .

I've had:

Bumpers,
Tailgates
Bonnets
Exhausts

All Delivered by DHL/UPS/Hermes/Parcelforce without problem or hitch, so whats the big hang up about them.. you can even ask for "Special delivery" guaranteed and it arrives fine.. some strong paranoia there me thinks..
Here's a better one for you:

Ordered from Autodoc and decided I didn't want them because the over charged on quoted price..UPS guy turns up at the door "Parcel For.." and right away I say that the order had been cancelled.. and "No problem sir, I'll just return them, sign here.." never heard any more about it AND my money was refunded...

It comes down to personal experience. You may have had perfectly good experiences with large parts being delivered intact, that doesn't mean I have... And that is my 'Big hang up'. I've been burned & lost money because of it, I'm not made of money so I don't want to lose money again.

Hey pontoneer, yes my mistake apologies! I'm based in London, Redbridge.

I've had parts delivered ending up damaged and a nightmare claiming my money back... So I'm hesitant to go that route again unfortunately.

I may try and ask how much it'll be, and even go that route but if the exhaust arrives damaged... I'll be less than impressed and that's putting it mildly haha!

Sorry I cant help but I do understand you reluctance to use some courier companies. A brand new OEM bonnet was purchased by myself and arrived securely packaged. Unfortunately it wasn't removed from the packaging some 4 weeks later to check (I was out of the country working), only to find a massive dent in an otherwise perfect bonnet.
No joy with the company I purchased it from as I hadn't checked it on arrival, but as a gesture of goodwill they refunded me £60 towards the cost fo a 'dent' man.
I have just dropped said bonnet off at the bodyshop where my project is currently underway, and they have said they are reluctant to use it!

How is the c43 going Abb? We were in Great Yarmouth for the last week, was gonna ask to to see it but thought you’d be away ;)

I’m pretty sure an exhaust will be easy enough to package up and send. That’s how it would arrive if MB were to order it in for you new.

At least a courier will have insurance anyway so if it’s all done properly there isn’t any risk on your part.

What if a member damaged it by mistake :o

I see what you mean... Although with an exhaust it's difficult for a person to damage however with a parcel company they throw things around... :/ ... I may give it the benefit of the doubt though as @wu56Shoozz has suggested... Reluctantly lol

Listen instead of whinging.. there are special service that insure the goods.. you pay more, but the old adage appears "Ya pays for what ya gets.." been there done this... haven't had a problem.. I think its more about expense rather than service here..
