New Bluetooth UHI

Trappy said:
Sorry Guys not very Techie, would a New C Class (Sep 2006) with UHI be compatible with the MHI unit from USA as the price difference is massive http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260045384491&fromMakeTrack=true

Also please confirm I do not need Commad

Thanks

Peter:)

Hi
I have tried the US unit on a 2006 A class with UHI and COMAND-APS (dvd), and on a 2004 SL with UHI and old-comand (cd), with a Nokia 6230i

Couldn't make it work sadly, it would dial, but no sound through speakers, and phone book wouldnt load (not that it does load on either of those cars with the UK Bluetooth cradles ..)

Richard

The complete range of N phones from Nokia will work. I have tried several of these and they all worked with my kit.
I ended up getting the N73 which has dog slow software but isn't a bad phone overall.

Did you try with the US or EU BT craddle? Will B6 787 5878 US craddle work on by B-Class? It looks like the two craddles are the same could the difference between the a different internal firmaware? If yes the US craddles which can be bought cheaper would just need a firmaware upgrade.

Ive since tried the US unit (hfp) on A class (i.e comand aps (DVD) with Nokia 6300 and it works great. Alfie also uses one on his A class - so I guess the answer is it will work with modern phones.

Theres always the european HFP cradle, which is available from German dealers at sensible price on ebay (or £250 from UK dealer) - go to www.mercupgrades.com/ebay_search.html and do the 'phone' search

Cheers

Mine works great with a Motorola V3i.

Hello.
I'm new in here.
I own an SLK R171 2004 model.
I just bought a BT module from USA and I have problem with it.
The serial number of this BT module is: B6 787 5878 and it is an US system.
I tried 4 different phones with it (Two different Nokia N73 with 3 different firmwares European version, 1 Nokia E90 Europe, 1 Nokia 6680 Europe) and none of it have successfully download the phonebook.

Is that a problem of phone or is that a problem of BT module?
Thank You for you help.
Regards

Its going to be the USA module i'm afraid. The European HFP module is newer software than that part (and in fact there is a new part number in the USA which has the newer software in it) - which is much better at adderss book downloads.

Whoops, according to my own website 5878 is the new module, I think 58 39 was the old one.
The new USA one seems to be optimised/tested on Motorola phones and Blackberries. The European one seems to have only been tested on 2 Motorolas, but supports lots of others.

I seem to rememebr the N73 working fine on HFP - so I still beleive it is your cradle.

Where are you ?

Replacing your cradle is not really an option as your cradle is most likeyl fixed in your car.

Best option is the viseeO MBU-1000 which will allow you to use your phone in your car (also will allow you to use your next phone if you upgrade). It sits in your cradle and you phone pairs to it. Contacts are transferred to the comand system and steering wheel controls etc work fine.

I have found that the N-series and E-series Nokia phones wont give the phonebook up to anything other than an SAP device. Euro spec or not. My advice would be to change the cradle to the SAP one if your into Nokias. Otherwise change the phone to something like a blackberry. If you PM me your email ill be happy to send you the list of phones tried and tested by MB.;)

I agree. A 2003 car will have the fixed cradle so a Viseeo MBU-1000 is the only cost effective solution.
