New Car Decision!

Dealer badge of some sort?

Looks a bit tatty - though cheap enough if solid mechanically etc.

What's that badge on the bootlid??

Dealer in Finchley Something "Day" can't remember the first name, they seem to put then on most of there cars and they did not have the best reputation either, why you would want to advertise with a horrible badge, i don't know.

Best of luck Andrew with your search. CLS i found a bit claustrophobic due to the low roof line, could get used to it especially with that 55 V8. SL with the Panoramic roof lots of sky.

Just remembered Alan Day.

Yes, Alan Day.

They used to have a fantastic showroom on the Finchley Road (since closed down). I used to drool at the cars whenever Dad drove us past there back in the '70s.

I think they are part of a bigger group now, and have a VW dealership on the North Circular Road at Bounds Green - don't think they are Merc dealers any more.

It's fairly simple - buy the right car (high spec, sensible colour or ltd edition, low owners, full main dealer history etc) privately at the right price - get it immaculate if not already and present it well in a private advert at the right time.

Know your subject - if you can talk the purchaser to death about model history the car should sell itself. The chap that bought the Aston told me he made his mind up on the advert alone (provided it was as described).

Given the current uncertain climate I have sold the Aston and am looking to return to the MB fold. I'm thinking about picking up a trade car - either a CLS55 or an SL55 having always wanted an AMG. That way I should be able to run it for a year and sell it with no depreciation.

It has to be black - but pretty flexible on the rest of it. Anything to be aware of on a 2003 SL or 2004 CLS?

The non-sensible route is a 348 or a T350...
So much for the credit crunch,I'm deciding whether to go to work on my pushbike or take the bus.

Love the Car Fleece.

It smells lovely - Aston wanted £300 but got it direct for half that.

And ................... what did you get ? Im skulking around £20k SL55`s at the mo thinking this is too good to be true.

Have decided to wait another year for an SL55. Just want something nice to use at weekends so looking at an E39 M5, Jag XKR, TVR Cerbera or a Lotus Esprit V8 - all 1999ish era for classic insurance.
