Hi All,

Just purchased my new car (c250 coupe 2013) this Monday and now its due for its first clean since I bought it. The car has alot of dust and water marks, needed some help on how I should clean it?

I got told to use "wax free" shampoo as the car is already waxed, is this correct?

What should I use and how should I do it?

Thanks,

I'm about a month ahead of you!

I jjust did my normal routine, cheapo shampoo, two bucket method, lambswool mitt, microweave towel, then finished with Megs Last Touch.

I'll do this for a couple more weeks, then Poorboys White Diamond followed by B-H Autobalm.

I dont know whether this is correct, but it's the first brand new car I've had since company cars a few years ago, so I knew no better. Didn't think to ask on here!

Malcolm

I use a Meguiars shampoo that has wax in it and my car is waxed .

Not sure why you wouldn't?

Thanks Malcolm, looks like I gonna do similar to you!!

Hi Moff, was told that using a wash and wax shampoo takes the old wax off and waxes the car with the new wax in the shampoo. Does that make any sense?

Its your car start as you mean to go on give it a thorough clean and start from fresh with products you want to use you then have peace of mind knowing what she has on her.

Tony.

How about checking the engine oil level first? Mine was overfilled [slightly] from the factory.

I'd give the car a good clay too.

You'll be surprised how much crap is stuck on a brand new car.
TBH, I never gave it a thought for the new MB, even though I clayed Mrs B's Skoda last week!

Clay a panel and take a look at the clay bar. Pretty sure it'll have taken off crp you didn't know was there.

Snow foam and rinse, before you wash it to try and remove the stuck on muck

Well I think you don't should wash you car... because its new and as you said its already waxed. You can just wet cloth to remove the dust, but if its hard to remove that dust and water spots then you can wash that.. it doesn't matter that you need a shampoo without wax.

Have a look on detailing world, wealth of information there for you.

@Grober,
The mistake is not from the factory but from your local dealer. All Mercedes cars are supposed to be delivery serviced by the seller and oil level is just one of the things on their checklist.

Sorry to rain on your parade but that is about the worst thing you can do to your cars paintwork. It will certainly create a lot of fine scratches at best and could potentially completely ruin your paintwork in a worst case scenario. We don't even dust off our showroom cars if they have any other colour besides white or silver due to fine scratches it produces on them. We just wash all the other coloured cars when they become to dusty.

Just as mentioned previously I would use a claybar if it wasn't done at the dealership at the time of delivery. I know that in Sweden at least it's not common practise to do so at the dealerships but we do it to each car that we deliver our put in our showroom at our dealership. If you haven't had it sealed and don't plan on waxing it fairly regularly I would recommend using a waxshampoo. If it was waxed at the dealership there are a high probability that they used a showroom type of wax which often looks very nice but last very little.

Obviously tired since I keep double posting, sorry
