new car

hello

Hi

nice car, however, bit steep for a 65k mileage car, i have an e350 avantgarde amg, and its got 36k miles on a 2005 and worth around 16k in current market with equal spec, or there abouts

id offer no more than 13, plus the aftermarket wheels and no badge suggests the engine has been truly used and driven hard, doesnt look like a restrained car.

hope that helps

Very good price for that car. 65k miles for that car is absolutely nothing for that engine, no matter how it was driven.

The big bills to worry about on these are plugs, discs, pads and you need to make sure absolutely everything works. Dont take any excuses for something that doesn't work because it may cost you to fix (unless they are willing to move down on price cuz of it).

Its a alot of car for the money.

i had thought the same as you to be honest, but pricewise i cannot seem to find any better for that, tried pistonheads and ebay where else would be looking for one

did notice that the service history is there, but the last 2 services were done by a specialist:crazy: why not mercedes i wonder

IMO as long as its an established specialist, you'll be alright. Merc's just want your cash.

It looks good or at least would with E63 wheels or proper E55 wheels.

Not keen on the current ones on it. Like the roof nice and airy.

I guess an indy was used as Merc service / labour on a 16K car is a LOT, if it needed any parts the service could be the wrong side of £1k easy.

Cannot really compare to a E350 ? all you can do is search the trader and piston heads to see what they are selling for.

i asked the guy if the car had any faults and his reply was
Everything works like new except the keyless go on driver's door only, all other doors + boot + engine start on gear lever work perfectly. The sensor on the driver's door is faulty. For obvious reasons, it gets the most use by far. I will fix this b4 any sale.
i am not sure what he means:rolleyes:

Do you know how keyless go works?

It could be right as the handles have little buttons and you simply have the credit card in your pocket (key). Walk upto the car and open the handle as you would pressing the button on the handle. Car opens. Sit in and press the top of gear stick (in park and foot on foot brake).

I guess the sensor in the button / handle could be faulty but I would want that fixed.

If your serious I would most certainly view and drive and even get a RAC or AA type report to check things over.

ahh right to be honest i did not know how it worked, i thought a big start button like the mini:D
that sounds good actualy, i am serious about getting one, hence the reason i am here
as what better place to find things about these cars than an owners club:)

The spec on this car and the price I think is really good and there is no way you can compare an E350 with a E55... looks like a nice example.. I also disagree with the debadging another member has mentioned... allot of people debadge cars... it is no way a refelction on how its been driven.... each to their own... After market alloys may not be to everyones taste but my own personal opion is that these suit the car well... just my 2p's worth

I thought I could see it does have a badge! On the right hand side at the back no?

My E220 came with no badge when I bought it, obviously to disguise it's humble motor, debadging an E55 is done for entirely different reasons I would imagine.

I dont know how someone compare a E350 and E55 they are two different cars.

Keyless go does play up a bit and its quite a common problem I have been told.
65k miles in my opinion is a bit high if you want decent resale on it later. However its not high mileage for a engine like that but there will be increased wear on tear on other parts of the car.

I would not take it to RAC to get it checked out. I would take it to a mercedes specialist who knows what hes looking for and can hook it up to a diagnostic machine.
Check absolutely everything electrical and make sure it works as fixing these could be a nightmare and cost you quite a bit.

I don't think 65k is bad. My reason is, the OP suggests he will only use the car occasionally. Yes, things will be worn etc, but he should have it inspected.

£16k is a LOT to spend on a car and a few hundred pounds on an inspection is not much.

If anything is not working, I'd say walk away unless he will repair it. I made this mistake of thinking the phone and cd changer on my car were small things; but anything on a merc is big money!

Drive a few cars, e.g. CL, S class, E55/E63, or even a CLK55!
