New Carbon Tax on Cars

The trouble with holding that view is that it prevents any chance of understanding how strongly many, many people believe that man's CO2 is a major contributor to global warming. Give them the benefit of the doubt. They may be wrong but they really believe that life on this planet is under threat and that we could save it.

Fortunately, there are some top scientists questioning their logic -see this thread: - http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=44833

Only with good science can we stop the relentless flow of measures to make life a misery for many.

There are a few issues I have with these people who you'd give the benefit of the doubt:

1) They do not care to investigate for themselves - they see the side of the argument they like, and stick with it. Everyone else is in the pocket of 'the oil companies' and 'corporations'.

2) Their suggestions are extremely expensive and ultimately if carried out would damage western economies. Newly emerging economies in the east would of course benefit as they ignore our efforts.

3) These people harp on about climate change but in reality are prepared to make few if any changes to their own lifestyle. They'll buy energy saving bulbs (putting them in light enclosures that aren't designed for energy savers), bulbs filled with lots of lovely little circuit boards filled with harmful chemicals. They'll recycle their waste, only for most of it to go into landfill in China. They'll buy a smaller car and then not take care of it, so it ends up on the scrapheap aged 10 years, then they'll buy another new car. And so on.

4) They don't believe in saving the planet. The planet will be just fine. The planet doesn't care about us or anything we do. No, they just care about saving their lifestyle, which is why they want a 4 bedroom detached house in the country, rather than a 2 bedroom flat in suburbia.

5) They harp on about saving the poor people, but in reality they don't care about them. Poor people are dying all over the world, starvation, war, disease, volcanoes, earthquakes - and yet we still carry on as before. China is an environmental ****hole, yet you'll see plenty of people buying all kinds of things made in China this Christmas. They just don't give a damn.

population growth is the cause of global warming.
More people, more resources ,more food, more energy, more housing needed
unfortunately this is not taxable and it is even encouraged with all the incentives to teenage mums and pregnant women. and babies do not carry number plates.
Long live the V8

Global warming is so yesterday. Keep up! They haven't been able to measure any real global warming so its now called climate change (just in case the world starts cooling again). Or more correctly, anthropogenic climate change. Not that many people know what anthropogenic actually means.
