New E Class lease option

i went through a similar calculation myself buying a CLS, however since mine is an older car with less depreciation it works out better to buy, as long as you don't mind driving an older car.

The cost of my 06 CLS320cdi with 26k on the clock will work out at £195/month including financing over a 3 year period, assuming its value will drop 50% over the period.

to lease a NEW CLS 250 CDI would cost £450/month for a (3+35) 36 month lease.

I'd rather save £255/month and drive an older (but still fantastic) car and glad someone else took the majority of the pain for depreciation.

Anyone know of any good on deals on the new E class? Especially the Sport AMG.

Not as good as they were at the end of March.

E250 AMG Sport Auto Saloon 6+35 circa £2k + £305 incl VAT

Today the best deals I've found are.

E220 SE Auto Saloon 6+35 £2100 + £320 incl VAT

Car leasing | Contract hire | Van leasing

I waiting until the end of the current quarter, to see if the drop again.

More bad news on the new car front. My current car passed its MOT without any advisories via my local Mercedes dealer. Wife thinks I should keep it:doh:

I'd love to change mine but I bought it cash when it was 5 months old and I know even now it's still depreciating but in my head it's "free". The thought of hosing £400+ month after month into one on contract hire or PCP makes me feel ill!

And, to be honest, I'm increasingly put off by the complexity of the latest cars - I don't think there's any way I'd want to be paying the repair bills for an 8yr old version of the latest E Class or ML.

This is the alternate view for me too, I'm in a similar position with my current car. Bought it from Mercedes at 12 months old, only covered 39K to date, never coughed once. Does everything I need it to do.

But nothing lasts forever especially cars, so it will need changing at some point. As much as I don't relish the payments each month I haven't got £20K to buy outright again.

Hi Gento55, was this from MB finance? What did you pay for the car? Did you negotiate this price?

I haven't tried too much negotiation on the prices I've been given as I'm just enquiring not ready to buy. Listening to others there does seem to be some heavy negotiation required to get the best out of dealers.

Just received an email from Mercedes for a used car offer, £1500 deposit contribution. They also quote a typical finance figure for a E250 CDI B/E of £5495 customer deposit followed by 36 x £325. This is for a 3/2012 car with 10,000 miles.

Mercedes offer new model E220 CDI SE Auto in Metallic for £4745 deposit and £339 per month for 36 months.

So a great deal then:fail

When you are ready to buy, print out the best deal you can find for a 3 year lease from a reputable source (I found one on-line with Parks Motor Group)
Go to your local main dealer and sit down with a sales man. Tell him you are looking for a financed deal on the car of your choice. Wait for him to produce the standard quote then show him the on line deal and ask him to match.
They are likely to have a car in stock (or within group stock) that they would like to shift.
Worked for me on an SLK 250CDi and with that info, worked for brother-in-law on an E 220 CDi at his local dealer.
edit:- watch them carefully, a bit of smoke & mirrors goes on. They try to gloss over the deposit & set up charges & try to convince you that the monthly rate is the same as the deal you showed them.
Then when you try to screw them for a bit extra like services thrown in they will try to "give you a discount" by getting you to buy gap insurance:doh:
