New E Class - Specification

I should just add, when I say they are old skool, they don't really know what people want at the moment, they are not on the ball enough to see what is up and coming, they can only be reactive and not proactive, and that is too late in this game, cars are fashion accessories and you need to make sure you are there leading, showing people what they want.

I know you are right, as I am in a minority with my all black interior, silver paint only ideas and the overwhelming concensus isn't mine but yours and others. Therefore I have to conclude you are right as I am being proven wrong...

Choice is great. I am a believer in it, but a retro fit stick up badge would be nice. I did like mine and miss it on my present car (a bit).

Personally I hate that 3 series all beige inside pic. With black headlining that would be nice.

Like my old BMW

Black wood...nice...

In Germany you choose you model first, so classic as we used to call it, and then you choose Elegance or Avantgarde.
You then can choose the exterior sport package or if you want a more aggressive stance the AMG sport package.

So you can have this exterior.....

With this interior....

Actually, that is the first time I have looked at a facelift 212 and thought, yeah, I like that, a lot!!

Oh, and if you choose comfort suspension you get the star back on the bonnet......

The split headlamps was the defining feature carried from the 210 across the 211 and onto the 212. I fear mercedes are going down the route of bmw where all their saloon cars look the same. Let's see what the new C brings.

Audi started that off.

My mate works for Audi and they just call them small medium and large rather than A3, A4 and A6.

Such is common lore that becomes repeated so often that it's just an accepted truth. That's the way consumer product journalism works and why so much is parroted from one review to another. Bit like the sentence in almost every summary on a MB saloon that mentions traditionally strong residuals.

I write having just driven back home in SWMBO's BMW and parked behind my much loved old W211.

I think BMWs are overrated. Nothing wrong with them. Just the blind acceptance of that accepted truth. It's a bit like the placebo effect.
Nothing blind about it- my own view as well actually after 11 cars

The interesting thing about the placebo effect is that you wouldn't realise it is at work .......

Dynamically they are in a different league.

Grrrrrrrrrr!

Looks like my E Class estate is not happening now!

Company fleet deal, ordered an E220Cdi SE 7G Estate, now been told that there are non in stock anywhere in the UK... in readiness for the 2013 model....................... which I can't have as its over my price limit and the emissions have gone up by 2, which also puts it over my company limit!

Not happy!, no Merc for me now!

Looks like its BMW 5 Series. :-(

You would have to be a bit simple to not notice the difference. :dk:

Edit: Sorry, just read that back, didn't mean it to come across like that!

Without wanting to appear rude, but how many new Mercedes-Benz cars have you bought either with your own funds or with finance? I think I know the answer.

MB-UK seem to be chasing a segment of the fleet market, and those who can't actually afford to buy the product so rent it because they want one on their driveway anyway. In their rush to do this they are damaging one of the core features of MB ownership, strong residuals, and also seem to be going out of their way to deliberately alienate a good proportion of their existing customer base by eliminating choice. Not the smartest move in my view. But then I'm not a marketing specialist

100% AGREE WITH YOU.. FINALLY SOMEONE HAS MENTIONED RESIDUAL DAMAGE OTHER THAN ME..

MERCEDES = :fail= :wallbash:

We only have poor residuals because of the crash in 2008, before that residuals were strong.

You could buy a £25000 C Class estate, drive it for 3 years and 45k miles and get £15000 back for it, costing you around £280 a month in depreciation.
Then when it crashed those cars were changing hands at 3 years old for £10000, that hasn't really changed, it has only crept up a couple of grand, however the price of a new C220cdi sport is now £32,000.
So £32k new and maybe £12k trade in at 3 years old. So the car is now costing £550 in depreciation.

Most of the buying public don't think a C220cdi is worth that, so they don't sell them for cash, they need incentives, which comes in the form of finance or hiring, this puts it back at around £400 a month, a figure that most would probably agree is about right for a C220.

At the end of the day the consumer dictates the price of things.

The car industry could do something to bolster residuals, giving a 5 or 6 year 120k mile warranty would help, this would make buying a 3 year old car much more desirable for many, they could even have a clause that to get the further 3 years you have to buy from a main dealer.
But they are not really interested, they are into the numbers game these days, and they want people coming back every two to three years, as long as they get £400 a month they don't care what the start and end price is really.

I'm still wincing from my first c class which I owned for a year 2007/08. It lost nearly £8k in that time although I did out 30k on it. Compared to the 730d which followed that cost me £1,500 over the same time/mileage it seemed pretty poor.

Talking about New E Class - Specification

Take some realization of Mercedes E-Class

The automobiles from Mercedes Benz for sale today are among the most trusted, extravagant, and finely engineered autos on the market today. The Mercedes Benz E-Class is among the most preferred models the company has ever produced.

The Mercedes E-Class has actually transformed from the prim and boxy designs of earlier version to the modern-day and sophisticated luxurious vehicle of today.

Its boxy form has actually transformed into a effective and aerodynamic body, as well as includes enhanced handling, fuel economy, and security features like the Brake Assist plus, and from the greater Mercedes S-Class, the Attention Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Area Assist functions. Lots of MB fans all over the world likes it, a best mix of art, functionality, and engineering. It can be counted on to be very reputable, whether Its brand new, or used.;):D

I do read some rubbish on this forum.

I agree, but when it comes to cars in the UK, the consumer who dictates the price is actually the fleet market, not the private buyer who continues to get stiffed. Mercedes-Benz are chasing volume and in the UK that means deep discounting to the fleet market, which in turn destroys residuals.
