New engine - trouble?

A lot of Mercedes!
Hi,

I have a w124 and had the engine rebuilt. I was later told that the mechanic replaced the old engine block with a new one. However, the new one is not especially made for my model car.

The car has driven 15,000 miles since rebuilt and it still drives very well! It always starts first time, no white & black smoke, stable at idle, everything works as it should!

But I do have some issues which maybe serious....... :(

(i) The oil pressure looks quite low. After the engine has warmed up, the oil pressure goes down to 1.2. Sometimes it is slightly under 2. But when I press the gas, it peaks to 3

(ii) It seems that there is some oil residue around the head gasket. Is it possible for coolant to mix with engine oil on w124s? Engine cap is clean, coolant reservoir is clean and engine oil is clean as well.

I hope you can give me some help.

Thanks! ;)

Hi all that figures you posted are rather normal.
I wouldn't worry about it.

If the oil pressure is at 3 when the accelerator is pressed then I would not worry. On tick-over when the engine is warm (80c) an oil pressure of 2 or just under is okay.

Make sure that you have a good make of oil and that the oil filters are Mercedes and not pattern parts.

Engine oil can get into the coolant via a faulty head gasket but you say that the reservoir is clean as is the engine oil.
