What is DPF?
HAVING DONE LOTS OF SOUL SEARCHING Thats the model I would like in either 280 or 320 version. All the ones I looked at last year have a small SPORT logo in the usual position on the front wings.
DPF is a set of letters that are worth paying attention to when buying a modern diesel. It is a way to reduce emissions - which is great - but the technology is not mature enough (imho) and there have been huge problems across lots of manufacturers - some more than others. One of the possible side effects of the DPF system is that excess diesel is transferred to the engine sump oil (yes you read that right) and there are warning lights to tell you to take the car to the dealer for an oil change - because the oil level is getting too HIGH! Of course the danger is then that the engine starts to run on its own sump oil and the rest you can imagine.
So for me DPF = no way Jose I would rather buy a petrol car.
BTW Ray would be interested in your views on the Sport model and the ride compared with the Avantgarde or elegance models.
I hope i am not tempting fate but both my wifes Audi a2 and my 55reg c320cdi both have a DPF. No issues or problems to date, just ensure garages independent or main use correct oil (low ash 229.51 or 229.31 me thinks)
I'd be surprised if it doesn't have one, mines a 55 Sport and does.
I guess they could have stopped putting them on, but if it was a new technology you would think all the newer cars (Diesel) would have one.
PS. have you found the hidden cup holders in the rear armrest? Took me a while before I realised they were there.
