Has anybody got any experience using or installing the new steering wheel interfaces and harnesses from Kenwood.
They have released a whole new lot that replaces the old units. One of the units replaced is the interface for the c-class model number CAW-MB1110. They have replaced them with universal plug-in boxes and you have to buy the correct harness adapter to plug in to the car and the stereo and then has a plug that goes into the universal interface box.
On Kenwood's website they have pics of all the different models of each harness. The one they have matched with the C-class from 2003-2007 shows a quadlock connector but i have the ISO connectors on my c180 sportcoupe. So when i spoke to them they say that it should be quadlock and i basically told them im looking at my cars harness right now and its definitely not. They said to try another harness that is for the A class and i have received that one but it doesnt have any connector that will plug into the ISO block with the 2 leads going into it for the remote control.
So does it not need these 2 leads on the cars harness and just uses the 2 normal ISO blocks or do i need to solder on some cables or something?
Btw the models that they have associated with the 2003-2007 c-class is CAW-CCANME1 which has a quadlock connector and one that has the ISO connectors that they have sent me is CAW-CCANME3.
This CCANME3 would take both the ISO blocks from the car but doesnt connect to the remote wires in the separate block on the cars harness. There is a few loose wires on the harness that dont connect to anything and has some red tape round them maybe i need to connect these myself? There is also a white and a green wires that the diagram says is for CANBUS vehicles and are just to be left disconnected if not used.
Does anybody have any ideas what i need to do? Obviously Kenwood have it wrong with the models for each vehicle as the c-class is split into different periods with different types of connectors on some cars so I dont think i will be the only one lol. Should i go and try to connect the loose wires to remote block on the cars harness or get a pro to have a look at it?
Cheers
