New LCD?? Monitor

EDIT: Whoops - I have just seen you have already ordered your monitor so please ignore this post.

Hi John, we buy all Dell here and have a selection of most of their LCD monitors.

It is just a personal opinion, but we love them. They are all of the UtlraSharp type (tried the Dell standard monitors but they aren't as good to look at).

The 2001FP is a fine monitor however, please beware that 1600 x 1200 is a LOT of pixels and you can have too many in some situations - especially if you are just using normal applications such as Internet Explorer or Microsoft Word.

I used to use a 2001FP but have now switched to a 1904FP - this is almost the same size as a 2001FP in terms of physical dimensions (only 1 inch less across the diagonal) but is only 1280 x 1024. This makes everything much bigger and easier to read onscreen.

It is also significantly cheaper, which is a bonus!

I hope that makes sense.

Best regards
Philip

Hi Philip

I ordered the Dell 2001FP and it arrived today. Very, very nice it is too. No dead pixels! My previous monitor was 22", run at 1920x1200, so used to high resolutions ... can never have enough pixels when running Photoshop and Dreamweaver :D

The only problem is that a power cable wasn't supplied; the "brick" was, but no cable, so I had to call in at PC World for one ... £8.99! For a simple laptop cable

Still, it looks wonderful now and I'm left contemplating whether I can fit another one on my desk ...

I have the same LG as Splang.

12ms and zero dead pixels. Good for gaming ( I returned a Neovo with a lower response time as it was poo).

Beware as different manufacturers measure different times ie black to black, red to red etc and it can matter alot.

We have had a 2001 turn up without the cable - very frustrating because it isn't a standard IEExxx cable.

Twin 1600x1200 monitors - now you are indulging yourself!
