Morning all,

I’m Mark from Sheffield. I’ve had a few MB, although notably my favourite was also my first ever new car which was an A45 AMG I treated myself to when the number of offspring meant I had to sell my motorbike :-(

Since then, the offspring count continued to rise so more recently we have a V220 but due to the high running costs (Mrs only does the school run in it) we have just bought an EQV - my first foray into EV ownership!

Anyway, glad to say hello and look forward to chatting 👋

Mark.

Welcome

Hi

A few on here will be interested in your experience of the EQV so do let us know how it goes doing the family duties, servicing costs along with reliability.

Have you bought or leased that?

Do you still have the A45?

Morning Fabes,

Yes happy to answer any questions. We had the V220 for about 3 years (still have it till we repair steering rack) so fresh back to back experience.

Didn’t get the EQV new, I couldn’t bare footing the depreciation. It’s 3 years old.

Initial experience is that it’s much nicer as a family car. I accept them most V class are bought for private hire and probably the diesel is a better alternative, but the EV characteristics (smooth acceleration, quiet running, pre conditioning) really suit the EQV.

Most noticeable are the fuel costs so far. V220 averaged about 22-2mpg for us (short journeys), whereas the EQV is averaging about 2-.2.2mpkwh in this cold weather so 180miles - 200miles to a charge.

Don’t have the A45 any more. Shame. I sold it at 10k miles, expecting the depreciation to start biting but soon after was COVID and they kept their value. It was my idea of a perfect A45 with the drivers pack and the better interior material (whatever pack that was called back in the day) - I have a fiesta ecoboost now, which is cheaper for the work miles if nothing else 😂

Welcome , enjoy the children, having had 4 I now realise how fast they grow up and become independent, my youngest is 51 and I still remember trying to sort out family transport, bit more choice now 😂

Amazing. That’s what we are on although only 1yo till 9yo.

Strangely I didn’t find much choice at this age. Not with the pram and all the school bags, only the Peugeot/vauxhall/toyota MPV but that’s akin to the MWB class inside.

The XC90 with the hybrid engine was next on the list of options. Truth be told my experience of MB customer service is Chequered so I was open to something new but the MPV body is so convinient and the Mrs didn’t fancy putting seats up down and folding the pram on every journey. So back in a MB I find myself.

Strangely we ended up with a delivery mileage GLS63 for a few weeks as a courtesy car - that I could have lived with putting the seats up and down and folding the pram!! Wouldn’t have gone anywhere in it mind as I couldn’t save up quick enough to put petrol in it 🙃

Nice intro and a warm welcome to the group from me.

Oddly enough as soon as the last of the gaggle of offspring left PC Towers the next car i bought had only two seats!
