Hi all I have just started the task of recommissioning my grandads old 1963 220 seb and have run into a problem… I have changed all of the rubber fuel lines, stripped the fuel pump and rebuilt it so it’s working perfectly
removed the fuel tank and rigged up a temporary one
i have fuel throughout the system upto the injectors and have removed checked they are free and refitted them other than two that I now have going in a beaker

the problem I have is I cannot get the injectors to open. I’m not sure if it’s a problem with the mechanical injection pump but I’m not sure how the check?
I have fitted a bypass to the cold start and it will briefly start with that so ignition is good

does anyone know a step by step to check? I see a solanoid on the pump that does seem to click

Welcome, Nick. 🙂👍

Your problem lies that with MB cars of that vintage, the people with the necessary experience and knowledge to work on the early mechanical injection systems are becoming thin on the ground now. Your best bet is to join the UK official Mercedes-Benz club. Home - The Mercedes-Benz Club
Most of the technical literature exists only in printed form there is very little info online.
try these guys Mr Injector UK - Petrol fuel injector diagnostics, testing & servicing
this is a good source of online info but you need to subscribe to access the data
