New owner from Scotland - E55 AMG (W211)

Hi everyone,

Been browsing a few MB forums recently, nice to find a UK based one

I've just bought an E55 AMG and should be picking it up over the weekend, took it out on the test drive and came back trying my best to supress the huge grin!! Up until now the most notable cars I've owned have been a couple of Honda Integra Type-R's that I've used as trackday and hillclimb/sprint machines, due to an expanding family and a lack of time I decided to go for a more refined car that I've always had my eye on 8)

After browsing around quite a few of my questions have already been answered, I'm involved with running itr-dc2.com and realise how things can become frustrating, I'll be doing my best to search before posting!

Oh and as a shameless plug if it's not too cheeky... if anyone is after a pro-built Integra Type R (built to Super Production spec) or a large Brian James A-Max trailer let me know

Of course, pictures are virtually mandatory on here, so as soon as you can it would be good to see some piccies of your new motor. (Hint hint!)

If you have a quick look around on here, you will find that even estate E55s make reasonable track cars. Our member called Chattonmill has posted picture(s) of his jaunt around Knockhill.

Welcome. Great choice in motor! I've come from the EVO scene...take it from me, you won't be disappointed with the E55. Although remember it won't go around corners quite as quick as your Type-R

When I was driving the car I did find that the steering felt a bit numb, though being used to competing with a front wheel drive car with no power steering and a plate diff it was always going to be a bit different, it was also a completely different feel to the 530D (hope that's not a dirty word on here!) that I used to own... the handling did inspire confidence, though it's limited what you can and really want to do on a test drive, even when the dealer's not with you.

Up until now I've also been going around in a Honda CRV as a general barge & tow wagon, must pester the dealer again tomorrow and see when the AMG will be ready
