Very well done Andy. Looks the business. :bannana: :bannana:

it's a low(ish) mileage (121k) 1990 24 valve E300. Full leather, walnut dash etc.

Theres a small ding on the front wing but the rest of the car is spot on.

Cost me £1320.

I'll post all the details once I've got the car and checked it out properly

Andy

Congrats.
Nice to see you went for another W124 rather than downgrading to a newer one... :D

looks very nice indeed

Very nice, looks the part.

Only trouble is I can see a set of shiny pedals appearing soon! :D :D

Looks like a nice car Andy, great colour as well, looks like Blue-Black?

Looking forward to seeing the pics :)

Good luck,

Will

Cheers for the comments folks...........

not too sure about the shiny pedals - I've managed to avoid them so far :)

As to the colour - well it's been described to me as "metallic black". I'm hoping to pick the car up from Newbury one day early in the week, just got to sort out times which suit everyone.

Once I've got it I'll have more details

That sure does look like Blauschwarz-Metallic. A very fine colour. Nice car and nice price Andy. Welcome to the 199 club :D

well that was fun whilst it lasted ........

1, the car was advertised on eBay was not owned by the guy who was selling it but his son (but not registered in his name either)

2, despite being advertised as having an MoT it didn't have one but they were going to get one this week sometime when his son got back fro Spain so until then the car is unavailable

3, according to the auction the car was taxed, then it wasn't taxed in the listing then suddenly after the auction had ended the tax was back :)

4, not mentioned in the auction (or shown in any of the photos) were the holes hacked out of all the door panels where 9x6 speakers had been fitted, nor the big chunk missing out of the centre console - actually on closer inspection that did show on the photos but it appeared to have been blurred out to obscure it.

5, when I finally managed to track him down (a full 30 hours after the auction ended) he said he had received my emails but not bothered replying to them as he hadn't thought it important enough because it was a Sunday

I've turned the guy down, told him he's contravened the terms of the auction and walked away from the car.

I may regret it now but I think I would have ended up regretting buying it even more.

The search goes on.......

I think you have done the right thing. If in any doubt at all always walk away. You can always buy a car but if you buy one you are not sure of and it turns out to be dog you will kick yourself. You wont kick yourself for not having bought that one.

From what you say I think the bloke is giving you the run around because he doesnt want to sell it at that price. I wouldnt mind betting its either sold elsewhere or it will re-appear on eBay soon!

Good luck with the search.

Edit; I would wait 89 days then slap a negative feedback onto his present 100% rating!

yeah, I've always trusted my instinct when buying cars and usually it's proved right. My thoughts were that if they consider door panels with huge holes in them and no MoT as "not really needing mentioning in the description" then what other "minor faults" are there? :)

As for selling elsewhere - yeah, it's possible, he didn't seem unduly concerned when I said I wasn't going to buy it and that he's had loads of interest if I didn't want it.

:( What a pain in the ****. Why do people bother BULLS*TING about the state of their cars :( Hope you find what you are looking for soon :)

Best regards,

Peter

If was'nt meant to be.... you may have some luck on the next find..everything for a reason.. some people say.. just a pig to have to go to the trouble of wasting your time..
