Sort of speaks for itself....

As a side note it's nice to know that it has had an original OEM passenger compartment cabin pollen filter changed, especially since the 1992 models didn't come with a passenger compartment cabin pollen filter when new.
But other than that...

The question arises "what would you do with this?" As an enthusiast you would drive it of course, but there are probably less expensive ways to enjoy an almost new 500E.
As an investment you would lessen the value by driving it, but it seems like a sacrilege not to use it.

I would buy that NOS unused E60 engine that I found and send them over to Affalterbach and have the last official factory new 124 E60 (conversion).
Decisions, Decisions.
I've always regretted not being the Sultan of Brunei, never more than now.
Kind Regards,

Ron

On the surface - WOW! What a car! One for an Enthusiast's collection for sure.

Underneath though, it's still a car from 1992 and I guess it could possibly need perishible items replaced before too long.

In a way, it's a shame it's covered so little mileage, as I'm sure any buyer out there wouldn't actually drive it :(

Stunning example and if I could buy it, I would.

Great find :thumb:

What in the name of rats crap have they done to the carpets? Not massivly taken with the "football pitch" effect. Other than that is looks like a minter.

engine temperatures running a bit high..

Of cousre it is,given to the outside temp 103 :eek:
Also are those calipers original?I don`t think they are but wonder who changed them and why touch such low miler

There is only one thing to do with a car like this IMHO and that is to get it serviced and then just enjoy driving it as a virtually brand new car. Anything else to me would be a waste of car and money.

A beautiful museum piece, would look good sitting in brooklands and be getting paid for it too :)

Oh Good Lord, that is a find and a half! :thumb:

Wonder what the reserve is? Maybe USD$50k? More?

brilliant piece of automotive history - 10/10 in my books

I've been thinking about this...
Let's say the reserve is $60K USD. Most people, me included, would think that it's an over the top price -- and maybe it is.
But...
Look what you get for your $60K. You get a NEW 500E, which many consider the most collectable of the post war Mercedes. It's an attractive colour combination (not as nice as Malachite Green/Mushroom of course, but nice nonetheless). New, in 1992 dollars, was just under $90K (with tax) and I think we all have to agree that the build quality of the 124s were far better than most anything produced today. The 124 was the last of the best and the 500E was the best of the last. I made that up but it's still true.

So one gets a new, hand-built, very fast, good colour, collectable, limited edition (10K in 3 years), $90,000, with an impeccable heritage car for 2/3 of it's retail price a decade and a half ago.

Without doing the math, if you put $90K in the bank in 1992 you may have been able to buy the car on the interest earned -- thereby getting the car free instead of losing 33% like this poor guy did!

Ron, who is able to fudge numbers to justify ANYTHING if he wants it bad enough.

500E Malachite Green Mushroom
E320T Malachite Green/Mushroom
and others...

If you want to waste 20 mins of your life in a wonderful way... have a look at it on their website... tons of pics and a video (the music's a bit ropey!) :)
