Hi Guys,

Well my second day of E class ownership has not been smooth! Started not too badly, the car had the 'convenience features not available messsage, indicating low battery, I'm assuming this means replace immediately!

Any advice on type of battery, I assume 95 Ah is correct, and Bosch is best, and I'll be trying to get the trader who sold the car to me to pay for it, but in case he won't, anybody have any opinion on the Vetech or Banner alternatives?

Secondly, and more challenging, driving around Oxford trying to find a parking space, unfortunately the car dumped its coolant, in a cloud of steam. I managed to pull over quickly, and discovered that the bottom hose had 'popped off'.

The reason seems simple, the clip holding it is not doing it's job, (in fact it barely seems fit for purpose to be honest).

So any advice? I assume change the hose, rather than just the clip, and should I do other hoses at the same time? Coolant flush etc? (not a great spanner man me).

Thanks in advance,

I would not fix anything as you have just bought it from a dealer! The dealer should fix it. 2 faults within 2 days is not a good start. If the dealer won't fix it have a chat to trading standards. If he won't fix get a battery from Euro Car Parts, plus antifreeze and probably new hose clips from them as well then maybe merc for a new hose. Should be easy repairs but 2 days after buying the car the dealer really should fix.

Welcome to the forum. Massive amounts of great info here and great helpful people as well.
Good Luck

I already spoke to him. He's being reasonable, happy to pay, but I want it done locally, he's an hour away, so I'll get the stuff organised, and he'll pay. He immediately agreed to the coolant hose repair, I forgot to mention the battery.

I think the hose is main dealer only, from what I can see. And yes, already finding the forum immensely helpful!

Buy the battery from MB. Don't forget you have two on that car. Hose is MB only too.
