SL55 AMG
Good morning all, new to the forum but not to forums in general...

I own a 2003 SL55 AMG which has an issue with the drivers door pin switch (under the striker in the B pillar)
When opening the door, the window should drop, the interior lights should illuminate and the seat should be able to be tilted forward to gain access to the rear... None of this is working on the drivers side only!

I have yesterday removed the drivers (UK car) door latch to find no micro switches! So refitted it and found the switch in the B pillar, I removed them from both sides of the car and swapped them but they both work on the passengers side! I have metered out the wires and found on the passengers door there is a small power supply through one wire which is grounded when the pin switch is activated... No reading (dead) on the same wire on the drivers side...

Would anyone have either come across this (known problem) before? Or does anyone have wiring details as to where the other end of that wire goes please?

I took the passenger side carpet up removed the BOSE box and found no control boxes there to check so am now alittle stuck!

Please can anyone help?

Best regards Craig...

My best suggestion is to go to a MB specialist who has the Star computer and get them to run a short circuit test, this can check all of the electrical functions in the car and may pinpoint the problem

With the complex CANBUS electronics the car has the problem could be in a number of control modules,

Thank you my friend, im new to Mercedes... The Range Rover i can fix with my eyes closed but this one is a different kettle of fish all together...

Change your Id to show the area you live then we can suggest and Indie to go to so you wont get fleeced.

Finally got this sorted yesterday:bannana:A green electrical connector below the storahe compartment behind the drivers seat... Water had obviously got in there at some point some while ago and it rotted... The replacement ECU will cost £270 but for now i have soldered a wire to the inside (where the ECU pin has broken off outside) and jumped it to the wire on the plug that has the broken pin... Happy days;)all works fine now finally:thumb:

Sounds like a demon bodge (not botch); solves the problem, costs almost nothing. I love fixing things the manufacturer doesn't want you to fix....
If everything now works, why fit a replacement ECU at all?

I am only going to change it if it plays up any further! The green (rotten) plug may carry on deteriating, and if it does and causes more issues then i will replace it... If not, i will leave well alone:thumb:

Just wanted to share the experience, just incase it helps the next poor sod:wallbash:
