NEWER russian parts site!

Just wondering;why is it that these online parts catologues are hosted in Russia rather than say somewhere in Europe or even the UK?
Seems a strange place to have MB info.....

Because its illegally copied data.

If you want the genuine EPC (which is correct) then it costs. Its not much ~ 17 euros per annum but its worth it. I havnt delved too far into the 'new' Russian site but if it has any of WIS on it then thats rather naughty as WIS is around 1500 euros per annum.

There are also some people who have bought dodgy copies of WIS from ebay and are freely distributing copied articles from it. Not only are these copies well out of date they are illegal. Something which I'm told MB are rightly clamping down on.....

EDIT: This site hasnt popped up over on the other forum yet. Im sure there are one or two there who would like it;)

Can someone please confirm what you get acess to by paying the ~15 euros on the MB website?

Do you get astra/wis and all the service manuals with pictures etc? Is it downloadable or acessable online?

WIS/ASRA is loads more money.

You get access to EPC net from Mercedes themselves. This means it is the most accurate resource, its right up to date with very new cars covered and of course is legal. 15 euros is an absolute bargain.

So does EPC have the workshop manuals as well?

The official MB online EPC has only the parts catalogue (hence the name...).

And it's great value indeed - I used it and ordered some parts. ;)

EPC = ELECTRONIC PARTS CATALOGUE

WIS=Workshop Information System------closest thing to workshop manuals[ that's the expensive one!]

so the answer to your question is NO.

Ok, so how much is WIS? and what about those that are sold on ebay and say "not copywrite material, perfectly legal" etc?
