<div class="bbWrapper">Seems like a good way to reduce sales of the C63 to near zero (who the hell will pay ~£70k for a 4 pot). I wonder if this is a feeler to check the reaction from the market and then say &quot;it's ok guys, we'll keep the V8 for now (but not for long)&quot; and then everyone rushes out to buy one!</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">It's a sad , yet inevitable way motoring for the future is going. Just be thankful its not all electric .<br /> Not totally surprised and I'd expect MB's competitors to go the same way, so looking to BMW and Audi for a new V8 won't help.<br /> <br /> Now more than ever, if you have never had a V8 AMG, just do it. They'll all be gone one day.<br /> I wonder who will supply the V8 for Aston Martin in future ? Is it the end for V10's and V12's in Lambos and Ferrari's?<br /> So many questions<img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /></div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I think we should all embrace and look forward to the cars of the future. <br /> <br /> Stop hanging on to the past and get excited for what’s to come. <br /> I’m guessing some here still play music via Vinyl and CD’s. <img src="/styles/mbclub/smilies/doh.gif" class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt="" title="Doh " data-shortname="" /> <br /> <br /> Move with the times, you may just enjoy it. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" /></div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Over a decade ago I was shocked to see a highly strung 4 pot 2.0 turbo in place of a V8 in a racing Audi R8 .<br /> <br /> Weight and balance is everything with handling and remember a 60kg difference just between similar cc early 90's Vauxhall engines, 8v Vs 16v turbo iirc .</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I can't see a small-engined hybrid car weighing less than a conventional large engined one... the weight of the batteries will probably make-up for the difference. <br /> <br /> But yes, in essence highly-strung small engines have a huge advantage in terms of weight and balance. Which is why the SL600 was a nice tourer but never a great sports car..</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Is this downsizing actually improving efficiency and reducing CO2 output anywhere other than the homologation emission testing?<br /> Recent comments on Fiat's TwinAir and tales Porsche's four cylinder in the Cayman being thirstier when pressed than the previous six cylinder suggest otherwise.<br /> The problem (as I see it) is that boosted engines inevitably have to run rich under load to suppress detonation - bang goes the fuel efficiency. Despite Porsche claiming all sorts of trickery to avoid that.</div>
