hi all again, been on the motorway twice now just to give my car a tickle (no Kids) and see whats it's like, first time i took it up to 120 and the power died? when i came off the motorway, there was no power or kickdown. I pulled to 1 side of the road, turned it off and then back on again and it seemed to work again?? i've just been to Garstang and on the way back i thought i'de try it again and low and behold, it lost power at 100 this time. The lim is off and no set speed is stored, can anyone please shed some light, much appreciated and thanks in advance :-)

V6 or I6?

My I6 did exactly this and it was the inlet manifold pressure sensor.

Cheers for your reply 'Druk' It's a straight 6 m8. It didn't show up in the instrument cluster as a fault though? Any idea on the costs for a new sensor to be fitted if thats the problem :-)

You still need to get it starred* cos it might be other things. Sensor is not much...£25 ish if memory serves although that was a couple of years ago. Change it yourself. Two small torx screws on the side of the intake RHS as you face car.

I'll have a look into it pal :-) Cheers for your help :-)

Dave go and have a word with the indie you spoke of in Whitefield (Gree**ale) cracking chaps no bull they put mine on star the other day no charge and cleared fault codes - They returned so car booked in for some jobs - Costs are a fraction of main stealer .

Cheers Buddy, I've booked it in for Tuesday 16th, having a gear oil/ transmition fluid + filter change, Glow plugs and the inlet minifold Sensor sorted + an air con recharge :-). Fingers crossed this will cure everything :-) cheers for your reply m8y. I got a good Quote aswell, and for the amount of hours taken, i would have payed well over the odds for labour alone @ a main dealers.

Just got my car back, running like a dream now. Cheers for your comment about the indi, they really are good, i had a problem with the kickdown, i was told it was something to do with the 'Glowplug Control Unit' so had a new 1 fitted, had a transmition/Gear oil and filter change, new glow plugs, and an aircon Recharge. Car running quiet and smooth. All in all, i'm very satisfied with the result :-)

I would say transmission oil made the difference, but most important thing is that car is ok now :thumb:

They told me at the garage that the oil had no shards in it, also i had a glowplug down. After putting new plugs in, they found out the control unit was faulty. Had a new 1 fitted and it really does run like a dream. Strange how different things effect different parts of the car. Took it on the motorway and i've got kickdown and power :-). Smooth gear changes from cold aswell :-) I did read from a chap on here to clean the back up battery terminals which also helped with that in the first place though.. Can't fault the car now, apart from the SBC noise, i can live with that though lol. I don't know how to post a thanks post to everybody or where to post it to those who gave advice so, To all the people who helped me with my problems, A massive thanks to you all :-)
