Noisy Interior W126

My 1986 420 SEL has VERY noisy front doors! Rattles and squeaks on anything but the smoothest surface. Everything seems screwed in well. Any ideas? Is this usual?

Have you removed the door cards and checked inside for rattles?

If it's anything like my 124, check-strap loose and bits of the window guides floating about...

Are the doors hung straight? Close them slowly and watch to see if the door lifts a little as it's pushed the last part of the way.

Mine used to creak and squeak like mad from all four doors. It was the door cards rubbing against the plastic sill covers. I cured mine by fitting chrome kick plates over the plastic ones.
Many on the 126 register have cured It by sticking strips of felt to the bottom of the door cards.

They can do this if the door cards havent been fitted back properly and so dont sit flush to the door..

Yes to the chrome plates but you absolutely have to look for some anti squeak tape on eBay. You won't believe the difference it'll make. Mine drove me totally barmy! Silent now.

Its been driving me barmy too. These things are so smooth and quiet this kind of thing stands out like dogs balls

Yes along the bottom of the door card. You'll love your car after doing it

I do already - went home list night and put two towels over the sill (just wanted to test the theory) - all silent now - Fantastic! Ill source some tape at weekend.Thanks again for the advice.
