Everything works as it should except speed dialling !
SD is activated on the handset, have tried with entries in SIM only, phone only and both memories.
Either get "speed dial empty" or what appears to be an unrelated number. When the latter occurs it is always the same number it finds ???

Any ideas

Intriguing... Does speed dial work OK when the handset is not in the cradle?

What is the s/w version of the phone? (enter *#0000# from standby)

If you have a THD system then speed dialling doesn't work.

I was gping to suggest the same as smartbrabus, definitely check that first.

What is a THD system?

1. Speed Dial works fine when phone is not in the cradle.
2. Cradle is the genuine option suuplied "pre wired" by Mercedes.
3. Phone software is V5.1 11.09.02 NPL-1
4. Local Vodafone support (for the company I work for) reckon no upgrade !!!

Hi Gav,
Is this just the hands free pre-wiring or do you have COMAND as well?

I will have to get 'She that must be obeyed' to go out and check to see if we have any speed dial numbers.

Last time I checked, the latest s/w for the 6310i is version 7.00, (11/11/04). Your nearest Nokia Service Centre should be able to upgrade you.

Dunno whether this will fix the problem though, it could be the COMAND that needs updating.

My gut instinct was that it might be a memory corruption issue in the phone, but since speed dialling works outside the cradle that rules that one out. It sounds more like a cradle/COMAND problem in the way that it communicates with the phone.

MB told me how to work around this

I have COMAND on a CLK W209 (Sep 2004). I could not get speed dials to work with my Nokia 6310i and could find no reference to it in the handbook. Someone in MB Technical Support eventually told me that it loads the first 10 numbers it finds on the SIM Card (not the Phone memory) into the Speed Dial locations. I cleared all entries off the SIM card and, by using the Nokia PC Desktop software to manually copy individual numbers in the order I wanted on to the SIM (while the phone was connected to the PC using the IR link) I got the speed dials set up. Painful, but it worked.

v8 now.

Unfortunatley it didn't work for me !
I did delete all SIM entries.
Deleted speed dials from the 6310i while out of the cradle.
Keyed in details prefixed each with Speed dial # (to keep them in the correct order).
Even tried selecting just SIM
No joy.
Even reset tje COMAND - it still finds the "old" incorrect numbers !!!
Any ideas ?

I had this myself some years ago but can't remember what the solution was - not at all helpful I know! Do you have any numbers stored in the COMAND system anywhere?

If all else fails I would suggest you back up the phone (and make sure it's all backed up) then delete everything in sight and start again - just put 1 number in and then try.

Do you know anyone else with a 6310i that you could try in the cradle to see what it dials?

I discover I have got exactly this problem with my Nokia 6310i in a 2005 W211 with Command. Does anybody know if a TEL software upgrade on the Command would help (I am running SW 0438 at present and am going in next week to have the AGW and HU software upgraded, so will happily add TEL if it is the problem)
