Mercedes C200 Coupe
Hi all. I've just joined the forum, so hello to all, and apologies if this has already been asked. I've got a 2006 C200 Coupe, and I've replaced the Audio 20 stereo with a JVC double din unit, which includes iPod connectivity and Bluetooth.

However, using my iPhone 4 over the Bluetooth is a really bad experience - the wife says I sound like I'm in a room of barking dogs. I've tried removing the Bluetooth module from the JVC (it's a little USB connector), and installing a Mercedes HFP connector in the armrest, but that doesn't even fire up - presumably it needs the Audio 20 unit to work?

Finally, my question is this - do I need to get a Viseeo unit to run Bluetooth with the JVC unit, or am I stuck with terrible sound quality on the phone? Will I need to return to the Audio 20 unit to get decent phone quality?

Any help would be very gratefully received - I'm at my wits end with this.

Cheers.

The Mercedes factory phone kit will not work with an aftermarket headunit.

JVC units are decent units. There may be a problem with the JVC bluetooth module, the JVC microphone or even maybe your phone. Try another phone first. If still the same check the microphone connection and wire routing, maybe try a different location.

Thanks npuk. I've got an iphone 4S, and before that a 3GS, and neither work well. Someone told me today that the JVC unit uses the phone antennae, not the car one, which is why the reception is so bad.

Does the Viseeo unit use the car's antennae? Would it work with the JVC?

Cheers.

No the factory phone kit wont work with the JVC. Also the Viseeo and other bluetooth cradles wouldnt use the car antenna either unless you use a phone specific cradle and the handset was placed in the cradle.

Even the latest Mercedes headunits have bluetooth built into the headunit and use the phones antenna so I doubt that is your issue.

Ok, thanks. Will try fiddling with the wiring routing, and see what happens.

Where is the mic from the JVC located?

It's at the top of the door pillar, facing me. I've seen one attached to the top of the steering column, so it faces through the steering wheel, but not sure about that.

I would work out which one is working, and try moving it.
