At £3.5K if I had a garage think I'd snap this up (unless it's a scam which of course is possible!

Deceased spec ?

Lovely old thing. If it has actually been garaged for four decades, it "hopefully" will have avoided that dreaded tin worm. You'll soon know if it's genuinely rust-free when you get underneath it with a screwdriver. When I bought two in the 1970's (for someone else) they were already suffering from just one decade of being used and stored in the rain.

It might even be one of Charlie Ware's renovations from the late 70's.

In the best Barnfind tradition, a lot will depend on how much it's been used recently. Yes, it runs perfectly but if it's been left untouched for years, it could be a spanner-y nightmare to keep it going. If it's genuinely been going to church on Sunday, it could be very easy.

Paintwork looks good but photos can be deceptive.

Price sounds attractive but not particularly low. These aren't particularly rare cars. Parts availability is excellent, as you probably know and they are very simple, joyfully primitive, to work on, if you remember what plugs and points are.

Don't think it's a scam, price's are dropping on all (most) classic cars. Even with the spanners and knowhow (going fast these days) its not a good idea to get older classics. High maintenance and lack of parts.

Apparently you could still get every part at one time in the 90s and build a brand new one. Don't know if that is still true today.

You can still get every part, and cheaply.

Charlie Ware in Bristol was building "new ones" much in the same way as people are building brand new Jags and MG's to this day.

Would make no sense to do that for one of these unless it was a family history thing. But a Lilac Million Minor, might just about justify it

Our next door neighbors have 2 Morris travellers ,I had only seen one of them as the second was in storage , the second one appeared yesterday after being laid up for 9 yrs , she drove it home.. , its an early 998 one with trafficators , nice looking cars .

Well it will definitely fit inside a 1930s semi detached house with garage which were made to house these, the garage that is 🙂

Could always get a Hindustan Ambassador, she's still alive today 🙂

Happy memories of spannering a moggie, mate of mine had a split screen side valve one, another mate was about to scrap one with a goldie 948cc OHV engine so we took the scrappie and over a weekend swopped engine, gearbox, rear axle (then found we also had to swop the fronts as the wheels/hubs were different) then scrapped the remaining hulk - by towing it to St Mary Cray tip (I steered the towed car, scariest ride ever!!) and tipping it over the side onto the rubbish pile! Quite easy to spanner - 1/4" and 1/2" AF spanners and a decent screwdriver and you could dismantle the entire car! - but need regular greasing and maintenance, forgotten skills for other than geriatrics like me!!

If i were buying one of these, it would either be an 'n' months flipper (where 'n' is significantly less than 24 months), or a full resto bare metal treatment job and giving it the paintwork and protection it deserves for an anticipated 'no sell' aspiration of keeping it in the family indefinitely.

I’d rather have an Austin Ambassador Van den Plas !

I had a split screen moggie that I paid the princely sum of £25 for in 1968. It managed very many trips around the country without too many issues. A leaking radiator was cured by breaking a raw egg into it but replacing the brake master cylinder was more challenging - it must have been the part around which the rest of the car was built. The biggest job was replacing the engine; I managed it all on my own without any lifting gear.

There's a 1969 Moggie in the Car Club over here. Owner decided to sell it. Bought the same day as the advert appeared by an American chum. Pleased as punch with it and it was in lovely condition.

Wouldn't start one morning, making the ominous click and a new solenoid for a tenner was the answer. Nothing else needed in over 2 years. Friend decided he wanted a change and original owner bought it back for the same price (sorry, can't remember).

Further 2 years on and owner selling again (needs space for 2 new cars including a Morgan V8), Car advertised and sold the same day to someone else for €5950 (£5100).

Sorry, tried to upload 'photo but unsuccessful.

Parts readily available and the model has a strong following. Folk in the UK asking silly money for all sorts, including Moggies, but seemingly not selling. Convertibles asking price £11/12K.
