Joined the forum a few months ago looking for a C209, circumstances change etc and have been looking out for a W203, saloon or estate. not been able to find the spec for the budget i have, and a car to px as well, but have found this which is very close.

Just like to know what you all think of it, good price??etc, am going to veiw it tomorrow.

Someone else bought a AMG CLK from this garage recently as well, they seemed very happy with that purchase.

Mercedes  C220  CDI AVANTGARDE SE WITH FULL LTHR+SPORT PACK++    2.1  Automatic for Sale, West Yorkshire - Shaks Specialist Cars Ltd™ - Huddersfield - West Yorkshire

Thanks Tom, the C220 is in budget, the C270 looks good but would still be stuck with another car to try and get rid off.#

The 220 is a facelift and should not have the Valeo or electrical problems. Looks nice too.

The 270 looks tired and doesn't do it for me. No leather in an Avantgarde SE?!! Hmmm tight-ass owner!!

I believe you are talking about me ;)

I can recommend Shak's only on the experience of one car purchase. The car was well-presented, the staff friendly and Shak himself was pleasant and helpful. I got the general impression that unless a potential trade-in vehicle is something they can sell-on from their own forecourt and at a decent profit you won't strike up a deal you'll be happy with. I was a cash-buyer (literally, as it turns out) with no trade-in and I bought the car for only a couple of hundred under the sticker price which made the whole process very smooth indeed.

The fact that my car has so-far been trouble-free and nothing went wrong with the buying process does not necessarily mean that all transactions will be like this.

The car you mention was parked behind mine on the two occasions that I went to see it and it looked pretty tidy (although I wasn't paying that much attention to it as you can imagine).

Thanks Shude, have spoke to Shak and agreed a price for my part ex over the phone, and then I will stump up the rest in cash, if i like it, and he honours the px for mine.

I can understand you not paying attention to that one, i would be the same if i could run an AMG, I would be satying will clear of it and looking for something very similar to yours.

Morning, whats the best way of checking HPI and if its been in any accidents?

Thanks

Egon

Google it and find dvla car checker

Because I change cars quite alot, and being in Yorkshire, I have come across this trader before and I have always found his prices to be more inflated than the average trader....

Thanks, will keep that in mind when i go on monday to veiw the car, though having looked on autotrder and ebay, this car seems to be an average price.

I've been browsing W203 Avantgarde Estates on Autotrader over 6 months now and this car has always come up in the results.
So he has had the car in stock quite a while, which means to me it's either over priced and he won't drop the price or many people have seen the car and it's not as good as they expected etc/not as advertised.
But if he has had it in stock for a while he should be keen of doing a deal, don't be afraid of making your offer of what you think it's worth and leaving your phone number for him to contact you.
Good luck and i look forward to your findings :thumb:

Thanks for that, speaking to them, they sold the car back in June,July time 2010, then have recently bought it back from the owner who has since emigrated!!

There are obvious questions about all of this, like why buy a car if you know youre emigrating, etc. So a will go in with an open mind and see what condition it is really in, difficult to tell in just 9 photos.

Will keep you posted on how it goes.

Went to see the car on Tuesday, pretty nice car inside and out, bubbles on the alloys, nothing major but think its a bit young for that but might be wrong. no reust on the vehicle but a couple of stone chips on the bonnet and marks on the door where someone hasnt been as careful getting in and out the car as they should, also missing the sliding boot cover.

6 stamps in the service book, 2 MB the rest "specialist". having to look into that, as the MB fill everything in, the specialiist didnt, just vin, miles and date. didnt see any reciepts to back these up, but that was my fault and going to check up on that.

4 brand new tyres on it, Baurius, cheaper tyre but should last a year and they will put a years MOT on it.

All in all nice looking car drove well, but need to chase history for me to be 100% happy with it.

Egon

For that price I would want full Mercedes history, wheels refurbished and better rubber on the wheels.
I have always find that if the tyres are a top brand (Michelin etc) then there is a strong possibility that it has wanted for nothing. And if they are budget tyres..... I'm sure you get my drift....;)

Think i am with you on that one, was really dissapointed with the state of the wheels, but they are unwilling to do any more, as they are "already loosing money on the car", as if!!!

Think its time to continue the search!!

Egon.

Well going to eat my words, did get he estate in the end. i verified the service history, the garage got the wheels refurbed, and knocked a few hundred of the price.

So all in all, very happy with my new mercedes, pity i have spent so much time out the country working, not getting time to enjoy it!!

Still after a boot/load cover though, cant seem to find one anywhere.#

Also, anyone got any thoughts on retro fitting xenons to it, or fitting the led type bulbs, or HID kits?

Egon.
