Now this is nice!!!

Indeed it is, I am sure Jay would do a nice deal for a forum member:D

Of course! Free shiny pedals with every purchase ;)

On a serious note, very powerful... ive driven some fast cars, but this is a pants filler...

These CLKs seem an awful lot of car for the money.

I'm not keen on soft tops but I find myself looking at the coupe versions of these, particularly the CLK 500, not sure I'd want the 55 version.

There are some tremendous deals around on 500's

Now I've decided the SEC build is not going to happen I'm half looking for another toy (that won't require building) and I really like the look of these CLK Avantgarde particualrly with an AMG kit.....

Not sure why I'm not keen on the 55 though, I normally automatically go for the range topping model. - Maybe I'm getting old!

Oh look I just noticed Jay has one!

How much car is that for £8,490!

Jay,

I'll swap you a donor SEC, a new engine and a new bodyshell (ready for your next project) for the 500 CLK!...:D

How does it compare to the e500 in power and ride? Does it just outclass the 124 or is it streets ahead?

Its different..

The 500E is powerful and has a sense of stability. The power kicks in a little later and so doesnt give you the sense of being on edge all the time.

The 55 has power from idle... I mean a blip of the throttle and the car is weaving around at the rear with the ESP triangle flashing in the dash.

I can see why so many get written off, its a hard car to handle as there is just an insane amount of power throughout the range.

Personally I would have a 500E, its more sedate... this is just madness on wheels.

Mudster, what about a rapid estate? I'm itching to build one...

I know...it's the build bit that's the problem.

Mrs Mudsters Multiple Sclerosis is now becoming quite time consuming and I just don't have the time to do the build bit...hence all the bits going up for sale....

However a ready built weekend toy for under £9,000 is quite appealing. It can be wrapped up when not being used and is going to be relatively low maintenance.

Nick Is suggesting I make use of my 560 engine in a W124 estate...which is something I've had a hankering to do for a while....it's just not a straight forward build though, there is a lot of time consuming work (much the same as Jay's widebody.

That 280 is lovely and just too nice to be butchered up, but it doesn't do it for me, there are 2 cylinders missing!;)

I see the radio was tuned to Kerrang in a couple of the pics, didn't know you were a metal head Jay! :D

If only there wasn't a recession - I'd have that straight away. Even my favourite colour.

(weep)

Fantastic looking car and real value for money!

It is an awesome looking car and in a colour that really suits and isn't the usual silver/black, if I could stretch that far I'd be biting Jay's hand off!
