NOx - Understanding How Many Of Us

My next will be an e300 or e450 petrol . If I had an older ad blue car , I'd pay £300 and have it deleted anyways . Upto now I've got a warranty still valid and I've had 7 free years of issues on 2 models . E350 16/17 reg coupe and e350 glc coupe 18/19 reg.
Yeah, I always worry about deletion, if the emisions tests ever change.....

Good tips on the Ad Blue, I don't think that's wide knowledge.
Well I did all that on mine, never worked for me. The only good adblue system is a deleted one.

Guess what - 2 years and 10 days after the last NOX sensor was changed under warranty , CEL is on and its saying NOX sensor bank 1
Fed up of it now - especially on a 2L petrol , atleast it still lets me drive but can it be coded out for petrol versions as well?

Add my 2017 e class estate to the adblue/NOX sensor issues. I had both NOX sensors changed under warranty after buying the car and just the other week paid £700 to have another one replaced only to be followed by the EML which this time is a new adblue tank as the pump is faulty.

Fix again or delete ??

I'm loathe to delete for the obvious legal reasons and also if the MOT testing procedure changes. I may look for an adblue emulator dongle but so far I can only find one for trucks. I'm going to try and get the pump part number as it looks like a fairly straightforward job to replace but it would have to be a new one rather than a 2nd hand one off ebay etc. Basically keep the car running for another year and then change it for a petrol something or other.

Yes, it can be coded out. The problem is knowing which codes to remove. I had one removed a few years ago on my petrol C350, but a couple of years later another code popped up with the same description. I've now changed my attack.

Every year or so when it pops up I cancel the code with my cheap reader. it only takes a couple of minutes. I generally have to cancel it once or twice more over the following days/weeks, then it gives up nagging me for about a year.

Either the NOx sensor is faulty (because the computer says so!) but then miraculously heals itself. Or it's just a minor transgression beyond some arbitrary limit set in the software that it falls back into line with after a few miles of running. I'm opting for the latter.

I bought my 2016 diesel Merc by an M-B dealer February 5th this year, one previous owner. I didn't even make it out of the city going home until the light came on. Drove straight back to the dealer, and of course it was a NOx sensor gone bad. They replaced it on the spot, of course free of charge but it was still a bit of a hassle. I had 2 hours of driving back home.

The upside is I got a brand new original sensor for no extra money. Whenever this problem shows itself again I'll do a NOx sensor delete instead.

Just had another failure of the downstream NOx sensor in my 2019 GLC 250d, had a diagnostic done at home then confirmed by Mercedes Inverness. This sensor was replaced in June 2022 and was done foc as a goodwill gesture as it was just out of warranty. No luck this time though even though the sensor is only 2 1/2 years old and has only done over 20,000 miles , not quite the quality I’d expect from an alleged premium brand but all too common. Anyway when it was in for the diagnostic check they carried out a software update which I didn’t know was going to be carried out until the work started but since this was done ( over a month now ) there has been no EML light showing up. This is all fine and well but they did confirm the sensor needs replacing after the diagnostic test so I guess it’s just a matter of time before it comes on again. See attachment for details of the software update.IMG_6852.jpeg
