Number Plate Holder

Little bit, got this one off ebay for my old SLK. Didn't look too shabby, may be not for not for the purist!

Dowtherz, thats looks ok, not shabby.. Nice reg as well...

To be honest im leaning towards the black holders, maybe just plain without the MB logo.. The chrome is too much i think..

Yeh bloody got rid of the plate with the car, mug! Keep it simple I reckon but plates definitely look better in a holder.

I had the ones that are in the first link in the first post, they looked nice on my car. I bought the from the same place.

I have a chrome one - it looks quite smart actually - although each to their own. I'll try and get a picture up later so you can all flame me :thumb:

I meant in terms of quality to be honest. But in regards to how it looks....plain looks good and clean. They fit it from factory. So why not?

Moved it to the front of the car now as when it was fitted I was always getting tailgated by middle-aged Barrys.

I have an unused one somewhere...

How about these, not tacky at all.

German Number Plates and License Plates

Russ

Thanks russ for the link, I bought 2, arrived this morning.. Back fits like a treat, but having problems with the front..

As the front is curved, the holder is flexible enough to bend but im not sure whether to remove the actual plate bracket(i think thats what its called) where the original plate is screwed on or just just put the holder on the bracket...

I bought two as well, not fitted yet though. I was planning to remove the existing front plate bracket before fitting the new holder. Depends on how it looks though, let me know how yours looks. Mine is going in for some warranty paintwork , so not fitting them until it comes back from the bodyshop.

Ok, I tried both methods and I prefere the holder on the bracket. It looks too flimsy on its own..

Be careful when you remove the bracket because now the screws are a bit loose when going into the bumper, so will eventually have to get slightly bigger screws, but not too much of a problem, it will hold for now....

i'm interested in getting a plate holder, but have a couple of questions

the normal rear mounting bolts are quite large, how was this taken care off to mount the rear holder

was there any problems with the thickness of the acrylic plate

I found the one I had on my SEC the other day and fitted it with my new plates on the W203.

I used the existing Mercedes bolts as the plate slots into the front of the holder so no clearance problems with UK acrylic plates

The great thing about these plate holders is they have millions of mounting holes in the back so you can fit them on anything (obviously youd look a bit daft fitting a Mercedes branded one to a Fiat etc....but it beats having to drill the plates to match etc)
